Slicer2 is fantastic (imho). Still use HY's early Max-version of Slicer from time to time (not available anymore).
Its randomize function is dope, somewhat copied by LoopEngine, with a lot more functions ofc, but the simplicity of this early gem has its advantages, too.

Still no triggering the slices by midi pads?
There are two kinds of people in the world. And you're not one of them.

Nope, you can trigger patterns now tho.
This plugin is sooo close to being what I've wanted for a long time but the interface and workflow needs some work. Zooming in to slice is reaaaally bad (add mousewheel and it'd be fine) and like I want the features from the older versions, slice by grid, let us set the length and tempo of each loop, let us propagate a loop slot with an entire sample automatically etc.
I was really excited for Loopmix, and then found out you can't turn off timestretching and it basically doesn't function with anything other than the loops they provide, then I was excited about hy-slicer and it's missing basic slicer functionality + workflow features that kind of defeat the purpose, cause I can slice and arrange much faster in the DAW.
Ned Rush is building a cute lil multi-sample slicer on his Patreon that looks pretty close but it's not done yet

I think slicer 2 is great. Just a quick way of making beats from the contents of loops but not necessarily the best for making beats from the loops themselves.
The King of slicers is still New Sonic Arts Vice, imho.

Hiya, I'm looking for a VST slicer that can keep a breakbeat intact but output its snares on a separate audio track and then make somewhat realistic variations of it? Apparently you can only cut/paste elements onto 16 positions in this one? Or an older version could do what I what by any chance? Thanks!

Pretty easy to do this in mulabkujoi wrote: Thu Mar 13, 2025 5:47 am Hiya, I'm looking for a VST slicer that can keep a breakbeat intact but output its snares on a separate audio track and then make somewhat realistic variations of it? Will look it up, thanks for the tip!
Turns out HY Slicer 2 cannot keep the original untouched breakbeat sequence, it's only meant to slice and extract loops in order to rearrange them manually only.
LiveSlice kinda does what I want but it's x86-only, REX2 support doesn't work in 64bit, UI is buggy and slice detection is quite a crapshot. Nice added value is that it tunes loop speed to project BPM automatically.
It would appear that GEIST2 would fit the bill. BLOOM DRUM BREAKS can do what I want, it's not abandoned like GEIST2 but no separate outputs sadly ><

I have pretty much given up on rx2 and converted all my loops to flac.
I would say try momentum but no rx2 support, maybe vice ? or even groove agent.

Will check, thanks!
I need it x64 VST with separate outputs, ability to keep untouched breakbeat sequence(but also make new ones, hopefully not through the DAW piano-roll) & automatic speed tuning to project BPM. I don't care all that much for RX2, even though it's convenient to have the slicing already done.
