The free Fire (many bands, master compressor, filter and stereo widener) :

So to continue and without any disregard to Plamen - I tried Fire which I didn't know even existed until you pointed it out. I wasn't expecting this but it's amazing. Right up my alley.

Fire is.... well... FIRE!!!

Not understanding the praise for this one. Its ok in the low and low mid band and i appreciate the linear phase crossover, but using it on the other higher bands even dialled in marginally seems to kill attacks of anything i run through it on any of the algorithms.

Maybe I don't want modulation in an effect because the interface and workflow are simpler without it. Maybe I have alternate methods of modulating. Maybe I want one saturation that is light and quick to implement, like this, and another that is more involved, like Saturn.

I would call it a basis of comparison rather than a fixation. By all means disagree with me, but please explain how exactly your insults and put-downs raise the level of discourse. What meaningful contribution to the conversation about multiband saturators have you made here to this thread?
It’s like you’re trying to miss the point. Whatever, I give up.

If the point you have been trying to make is that Saturn 2 is an apt comparison, I will concede on that. Someone who was trying to be helpful rather than posture might have gotten that point across by stating that it is easy enough to not use modulation in Saturn without any change to the simple workflow ... I hadn't realized that.

I think it's a question of money. If you can afford it, I think Saturn 2 is worth it. You certainly get value from Plamen if you buy it at intro price, but I don't know if I would use this so much personally (already have saturn 2). But YMMV

Besides, the more Fabfilter plugins you buy, you start getting better discounts on them, and even if 2-4 purchases seem steep at first, you eventually get good foothold into their ecosystem, eventually being able buy most of their plugins (because of the very good discount prices, especially during sale periods when theres additional -25% i think?, capped at -70%), which is actually pretty good thing even if you don't use all of them all of the time or in every project. Fabfilter plugins are something I wouldn't want to trade away for anything, and I'm not even biggest of all of their plugins (Pro-Q and ProMB will find use in every project though, latter is godsend for external sidechaining of singular bands, also good mb gating, and former is quickest to use EQ I've found).

I think the best implementation of multiband saturation so far is Wavesfactory Spectre.

Another decent multiband saturator is the one by Hornet Audio, which was given away for free just the other day. Very bland GUI, but adjustable crossover points and full control over the composition of odd and even order harmonics + bit reducer included.

kHz SnapHead (many bands and some modulations if required) :

I think you are conflating SnapHeap and Multipass. Multipass is the multiband version (and coincidentally on sale right now).

Have the major bugs in Fire been resolved? For example the fact that the HQ button drastically alters the sound? And many other issues which the developer doesn't seem to have responded to?
