It would be interesting to hear Drumazon 2 vs a real 909 machine, no effects added to either. Especially in a blind test.kmonkey wrote: Wed Sep 13, 2023 2:54 amSamples are most of the time colored and preprocessed with how the seller decides they should sound. And usually they ar more polished sounding. Here you have raw material and you work on your own.Ou_Tis wrote: Tue Sep 12, 2023 10:22 pm After listening to the preset demo videos, it still doesn't sound quite as good as samples IMO. And the synthesis tweaking options seem pretty limited (as with the hardware).
The randomizer is supposed to be "intelligent", wonder how good it is....
The synthesis is exactly as in the original. For the likes of a randomizer, you need to try it. You really need to try this on your own. I suggest you try this product it is really good for at least trying it on your own.
An observation: videos are not doing a favor for Drumazon 2. You really need to try it on your own. There are plenty of kit presets and rhythm presets. Try to load different kits and then move on to the bottom and try how it sounds with different rhythms. You will be surprised at how far this thing can go and how good it can sound.
But people mainly want the types of 909 sounds they're familiar with from hit songs. Most of which used extensive hardware chains. While D16 uses mini-versions of some of their other hardware emulations as effects in Drumazon, I doubt they really did a thorough modeling of the whole signal chain---anyway, the audio output of Drumazon, even with the built-in effects, still generally doesn't sound as good as processed samples, judging by the demos. And while I have shelled out for high-quality mixing/mastering gear emulations by Acustica, DMG Audio, etc. I'm not too keen on trying to recreate those chains from scratch when I can just use a sample. Of course some people will want to have that level of control and customization, though it seems pretty niche.
What would interest me is opening up new possibilities for the sound. Maybe like "make your own drum machine by changing physical parameters". Or maybe AI analysis to create an n-dimensional space of relevant parameters to travel through or deform or mutate.

Hi,
We've recorded this comparison 15 years ago (Drumazon 1 vs TR909 also is there):
Now in Drumazon 2 with replaced common noise generator to one based on emulating linear feedback shift register and improved hats generator it's only better.
Cheers,
Sebastian

Thanks. Strangely when I search for "drumazon vs 909" on Youtube that gets buried pretty far down in the search results, below "People also watched", probably because it's 15 years old.m00gie wrote: Wed Sep 13, 2023 2:07 pm Hi,

It's not clear which is playing when in that video, but in the Drumazon vs 909 section I strongly prefer the one that plays first, which I'm pretty sure is the 909. Would be interesting to hear Drumazon 2 vs 909.

Thanks!m00gie wrote: Wed Sep 13, 2023 12:30 pm Hi guys,
We've just released Drumazon 2.0.1 hotfix for the most urgent issues;
https://d16.pl/installers
Cheers,
Sebastian
There is one thing though, please consider improving the installer to:
- remember VST2 path
- remember I unticked AAX
and possibly make an all-in-one installer for all products. I own them all (minus spacerek).
Thanks so much, Drumazon2 rocks!

Yes, it's quite odd the way this works.gentleclockdivider wrote: Mon Sep 11, 2023 9:10 pm Having an issue here , concerning the serial nature of the effects .
The BD is assigned to slot 1 (distortion ), the SD to slot 5 ( reverb ) .
Snare obviously plays reverb , but BAss Drum plays distortion into reverb (becasue of the serial routing )
So this means that anything that is assigned to the left most slots always flows to the slots at the right of it .
Is there a way around this , iow just BD+distort without the effects after it ?
This also means you can't have a 'single' separate effect for a sound , unless it's routed to the last slot .
Can't believe it supposed to work this way

Yeah im a bit at a loss on how to use the fx slots other than focusing on a specific instrument/the whole drumkit. Maybe there is a specific workflow i need to figure out.
It doesnt make sense to me yet, so i'm studying the presets to see how they used these buses efficiently.
One bus per strip would be nice (can be done via external routing of course) :p

Interesting, found out about this now. Curious about the new features.
Is it possible to tune the drums (especially bass drum) to precise musical notes?
Is it possible to select any drum and play it across the keyboard at different pitches?
IIRC these were not possible in Drumazon 1.

Every drum has a tune knob. The bass drum also has a pitch knob. AFAIK, the tune knobs are adjusted in percentages, not by note. I didn’t find a way to play the drums chromatically but someone else may know a way.Phazma wrote: Thu Sep 14, 2023 9:31 am Is it possible to tune the drums (especially bass drum) to precise musical notes?

Thanks for the answer. I looked up the old version and the tune knob adjusts the pitch envelope while the pitch knob sets the base pitch. If the pitch knob doesn’t snap to semitones in DZ2 it likely will not be possible to set precise pitches (without measuring, or a chart or something). Also if this feature lacks I believe there won’t be a way to play it chromatically as that makes no sense if tuning to specific notes is not supported.Uncle E wrote: Thu Sep 14, 2023 2:29 pm
