Have you received a $25 thank you coupon for the $14 purchase?
Unfortunately, I didn't.
That's legal robbery! :-o

Seems they stopped issuing thank you coupons for purchases made with at least the $50 discount.

I’ve made 3 so far, and now I’m considering adding the Manley preamp for $24 (with the discount). Just not sure if it’s worth getting.

I’m still after the Zener-Bender from Softube, UBK1, and AR-1. Excluding UBK1, I’m trying to replace the Abbey Roads waves stuff.

I thought I don't need another Pultec because I already have the Bettermaker plugin from PA.
But for $14 I couldn't resist. :hihi:

Anyone compared the Pultecs to Softube’s Tubetech?

UA: $39 (or $14 with an extra thank you coupon)
Softube; $99 (with HITECHTUBE coupon)

Not recently.. HOWEVER :).
About ten years ago or however long :). I did.
I had the UAD DSP original version of Pultec which I used. Then they came out with a mk2 which changed somethings and around that time Softube came out with their Pultecs. I a/b ed them extensively (cause Pultecs are my first go to eq's on voices, male, female, voice over singing).. and I ended up using the Softube in my templates not the UAD as first choice.
But I haven't a/bed them recently, though nothing should have changed in the respective programming just my own taste.

UA -> Softube.
Not only that, UA is the best emulation of Pultec on the market.
Softube is excellent, not the best though.
Specifically, the low end boost + attenuate tricks sounds better on UA.

Not sure of the timeline, but on Softube, they say they’ve been rebuilt from ground up with new features and their latest technology. Of course marketing is what it is… but maybe something is new?

I’ll likely download the demo soon just to satisfy the curiosity.

Hmmmm.. I am not aware that they have released a newer version (beyond of course adding stuff to all their plugins with headers, preset browsers etc.

Let me go look.

This page right? :https://www.softube.com/eq-collection

and this page: https://www.softube.com/complete-collection
"In 2018 we released the updated Mk II versions; a total ground-up remodel of the CL 1B compressor, and a single combined EQ plug-in, taking advantage of our latest signal processing technology"

If memory serves me this is exactly what it was... a new remodeling of their compressor and and an additional EQ that combined all the EQ components into one, but i don't think the eq's algorithms were changed. I still have the old ones I can check them against these.

Btw the original UAD also had a one EQ that combined all of them, but for whatever reason they nixed it in mk2

rsp

edit actually what they did is converted two eq's in mk1 to one eq in mk 2..The two older fuzzier ones were converted into one (the clearer one at the bottom)

Note they only speak of improved graphics and control

And yes I just tested them, the Sofutbe individual EQ Components null with the mk2 composite.

So, for the EQ's the DSP is the same as Mk1's.

What's the CPU usage and latency on both?
The same?

Try comparing 10 of each version at a time on the same material.
It could be that the version 2 dsp gets the same results with fewer cycles. Or more.

Why not download the demos and test it if you are really that interested in knowing all of this information.
I am not that curious at all.

Got the Pultecs for my new mac studio setup, works great, sounds great. Got a thank you voucher for £25 immediately, so used the pultec code again and the thank you voucher and got the polyMAX synth for £24. I honestly never thought I'd be able to afford or use anything by UAD so am quite a happy chappy tonight
