Project goes quiet after 5 mins (no volume automation on master track)

I'm guessing that you have automated the Master volume rather than the volume/pan filter for the track.

Thanks, operandx. I solved that problem. It caused by an automation, but not on the Master track! (That's why I was baffled.) I found there was anothe track that had an automation curve, and I think I had deleted the track that this automation track originally referred to. After also deleted the automation track, and all was ok after that. Your new issue sounds like you might have set fade in on the second clip? What you are describing is not normal behaviour.

FFS stop editing the content of the post, it just gets confsing. As I said you have propab;y automated Master volume - you can do this at the track level - easy done by mistake.

Just in case it may be useful to someone, one thing that has happened to me a few times is that I imported audio stems into a new edit or project to finalize the track and it would go quiet before the end of the song, then I realized that had Waveform imported the stems but did not display them in their entirety, and I had to drag the right hand top arrow to fully extend the stems so they were played until the end. Watch out for that the next time around.
