What do people think of the API 2500?

It’s good. I usually choose either the Fairchild or Vari-MU over it but 2500 has Thrust and way more options. If we’re just comparing against other 2500’s, I’d say it sounds like the hardware.

bought the fairchild at P-boutique now, since no code showed up at UAD so far.

AFAIK you‘ll not receive a thank you voucher when you buy at resellers.

I personally think it's one of the worst tape emulations plugins for anything. But that's just me.

I think he meant "in your CART". Add the plugin to your cart, and when you go to your cart page, the codes will appear.

I checked with UA Support regarding the number of times UADTUESDAY coupon can be used and they said "only twice".

If anyone has been able to use it the third time, please let us know.

If it was just solely about tube warmth,....regardless if a UAD plugin would deliver further functionality like EQ, Comp, etc, just for the tube-sound aspect alone, ...warmth in the lowmids/lows, plus that typical alteration of transients in specific ways,

which single plugin, or which plugin chain would be "The one" ?


talking vs. hand played Instruments like Rhodes, E-Bass, VST-Synths, or the sound-outcome from creative FX. I create there often Bass weighty sounds.

175/176, Fairchild, VoxBox, and Pultec are based on tube devices and I would rank their “tubiness” in that order.

Whilst I don't agree it is at all the worse (its the one I use the most actually)... I suspect his answer will be the IK Stuff Tape Machines (not the Teac ones), which I do agree is the best (I tried it after he recommended it to me), but it use to kill my old computer. Haven't tried them on my apple silicon native yet though.

Hopefully UA will release the Ampex as native soon. That's their best. I believe it already runs natively in Luna.
