yes, because, especially on kvr, people only talk very specifically about a thread topic, and nothing around or related to that is ever discussed...hurricaneaudiolab wrote: Thu Sep 28, 2023 3:41 pm oh, silly me thinking we’re talking about the thread topic.![]()

Apple Safari, the one bundled with the actual OS update? No need, mate.
You got a short memory

Think about it. You'll get there.
Anyway, just found (part of) my own answer.

I think you are mixing 2 things.
One thing is a change of processor architecture.
Another thing is a simple OS update...
And for the record teams was working... you were just using a bit more than your CPU than needed.
Reason Studios has been on Rosetta for 2 years and was still working perfectly fine.

My version of DS Thorn is indeed the plug in alliance one. (but it is the only stuff I have from them).

of course; but I've seen people complaining that they did the auto update and they have trouble so might as well say it. I consider it's ok to upgrade when every manufacturer of every plugin/daw/hardware I use has released an official statement saying their stuff works on the new OS. which about none of them has so it's not really about the OS being a beta.this happens usually up to a year after an os release. (I'm super conservative about this because when things run super smoothly I don't want to jinx it so I usually wait 2 or 3 OS updates before committing an update because at some point things start to break if your OS is too old)fisherKing wrote: Thu Sep 28, 2023 2:20 ami agree... that's why i've been running the OS betas since junegrrrz wrote: Wed Sep 27, 2023 9:57 pm as a general rule don't upgrade your OS on day one. (I'd even go as far as saying you should wait the next OS update to be safe)![]()
people can do whatever they want, as long as they accept the consequences. for me, on logic, everything works, and has since the first beta (i use mostly 3rd-party plugins).
a 'finished' OS is not a guarantee that everything is under control, anymore than a .1 or .3 update. OS development is never a straight line forward; some things get fixed, others break. and so on.
so we dive in whenever we want.. then untangle a mess. or not![]()

Just upgraded and not a single application or plugin broke, including the ones that you would normally think might have issues, such a Techtools Pro.
The are some applications that are specifically designed to work for one and only one MacOS version such as OnyX. Those you need to upgrade, obviously. But everything else seems to be smooth sailing.
I think a lot of this MacOS upgrade panic is PTSD from the early days twenty years ago when professionals needed to safeguard the one system configuration that actually worked. And then there was obviously also the change to Apple Silicon that caused a bit of havoc.
But since Apple walled off their interior system architecture and nobody can do any funny stuff with strange kernel extensions anymore, things have cooled down to the point where a MacOS upgrade has essentially become a non issue.
I did not have any issues whatsoever switching over to Ventura last year. And Sonoma was even less of a hassle. And I have _a_lot_ of plugins and DAWs that I work with.
That being said, if your financial livelihood depends on your system being fully functional, quadruple-checking before any upgrade is always a good idea. On Windows as well as on MacOS.
