I was about to say exactly that.

It’s called Albino for a reason…gearwatcher wrote: Tue Oct 03, 2023 5:39 pm I might consider it if they have a dark themeotherwise I'm not paying fiddy bux for something I already have.

I bought the original version in 2005 for 199€
Albino was great and if there was a further development I would be interested. Rob went in a similar direction with the Predator, for me it was always a "successor" to the Albino.
To be honest, the Albino always sounded a bit thin but it stood out well in the mix. If Jon and Rob freshen up the old Albino a bit, it could be a great synth that also fits well into Rob Papen's portfolio.

I would consider the re-sizable GUI an upgrade. If they mess with the sound too much then it's not really Albino anymore. Adding a modern filter or two wouldn't hurt like the "Z" filters in Bit 2 for example as long as they don't do anything to break any of the old presets.fmr wrote: Tue Oct 03, 2023 7:01 pmI doubt they will mess with the synth engine. IMO, it will be just a modernization, maybe with some code polishing, VST3 support and a new, resizeable GUI.
I found that I have about 3,000 presets backed up including all the Pro Sound collection so if it can read them and has a GUI that I could actually see these days then I'll definitely be interested.
But again nothing can be determined until we get a demo to try. Hopefully Rob didn't tease this months in advance of a public release and we're not far away from trying that demo.

Yeah, resizable GUI and compatibility with current Macs is a must for me as well.
I wonder if they'll offer a further discount for Explorer 8 owners?

strange didnt get any newsletter this time
so i thought this is a april 1st joke lol
really surprising as Rob was few months ago not commenting on this really and talked about his synths in a stream so ithought this is 100% really dead.
the new version has to be backwards compatible! and i hope some modern user friendliness. will buy asap.

I own Albino 3 but I would not consider upgrading if the sound quality isn't being noticeably improved to todays standards.

Can anyone post the relevant parts of the news letter to the thread?
I'm really curious as I loved albino 3. I had a download and it was on a HDD that crashed
No clue if I could get my old license back .

I would love to see a CRX4 Legend that's just recompiled for Apple silicon. The original version still works great in Rosetta, but native would be nicer. Of all the plugin instruments that I've wasted my money on over the years, this is the one that wasn't a waste at all. Quick, easy and versatile. Maaaaybe a new set of updated filters, but the originals aren't that bad.
I never got Spectral or Octopus(? The FM one), but I'd be interested in those too. I was very sad when Linplug shuttered its doors. However, I think Albino might have been done by Mr Linsener as work-for-hire and RP is just riding on the Vanguard coattails with an update.

I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?
