Sounds like Albino Legend is going to be the original Albino (Papen purchased the code from Peter) and he’s not going to mess with it other than adding additional GUI sizes, VST3, and compatibility with new operating systems. Plus it sounds like it’ll have the same plugin ID so your projects using the old Albino will load the Legend version.

Yes and he said there are no plans to obtain the code for the other LinPlug instruments because of a lack of demand so those of you who love Spectral should let him know how you feel. Can't hurt to let your voices be heard.

Anyway take my money Rob. I'm on the Explorer 9 upgrade the moment it is released. :tu:

And all for 50 EURO, which is not exactly cheap.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

osiris wrote: Thu Oct 05, 2023 2:18 pm I still have and use Albino 64. It's a PITA on the new system and I end up using the 32 bit one, but I think I bought it from Linplug and I don't think it's in my Papen account so how does the upgrade work for me. All I got when Linplug went away was a serial number that is also a PITA to put into the VST.
I have the same situation and question. I purchased the original Albino directly from Linplug and still have a serial number from them but I'm guessing that won't qualify for the $49 upgrade price. Not a big deal here as I plan on purchasing the Explorer 8 to 9 upgrade. If the price does indeed stay at $74 then that will be a fair deal.

Again we can ask these kinds of questions during the live stream if you're able to catch it and of course you can always watch it later so see if any new information is revealed.

Just out of curiosity why would the 64 bit version be more of a PITA than the 32 bit version?
Windows 11 does not like the GUI, so it will come up just blank, the background, the logo, no knobs or displays. I found if I minimize the Bridge window then restore it full, everything is there. It is also prone to crash FL 21 a lot, but I seem to remember this was first gen 64 bit.
Now the 32 bit one plays like a champ. No problems.

Weird. Why would he hear about demand for someone else's products?

Regardless, bombard him with requests for your fave Linplugs! :hihi:
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

Spectral is still loved by some. Not enough to buy the code maybe? Anyway, it's a beast, so maybe there's hope.

I asked the question about obtaining the code for other Linplug plugins during the live stream and that was his response. I don't remember exactly at what point of the video but I think it was more towards the end.

So maybe if he hears from more people he will relent. He said they would rather focus on new projects and to be honest I'm with him on that although I never had any love for Spectral. So those who do or did should at least let him know how they feel. If Linplug sold the code for Albino (we now know who actually owned the code) maybe they would sell them code to other plugins. Long shot maybe but who knows.

Sorry I didn't follow much rob papen news. What will be inside explorer 9 compared to explorer 8, only albino 3 and go 2 x?
Any idea on the upgrade price?
I feel rob papen is falling behind here, am I wrong?

Edit: I just watched 10 min of Rob live stream, go 2 improvements are at much incremental, albino has no interest for non-nostalgic people.... Then there was a new effect I think... Didn't even bother looking at it....
That shouldn't be paid upgrade I feel...
I mean compare to predator 3 that was an awesome synth, I feel Rob brand is barely trying to maintain.

Would have loved this 10 years ago. Now I've moved on, and so has instrument plugin technology. Wouldn't pay $99 for tech that old.
A well-behaved signature.

Agreed....

I mean I purchased DS Thorn for 30usd... That's a world appart in terms of sonic possibilities and GUI...

Or maybe there is a big surprise coming in,... that's my hope.

The only new Papen addition to explorer 9 is those minor additions to GO2. Definitely not enough to call it GO3. So there’s really nothing else except for future promises. You can count Albino as new if you want, but the additions there are minor. Could have at least added his preset browser. The additions to existing synths in Explorer 8 was weak. And I don’t know about you, but I’m really not here for their effects. If you don’t own anything Papen, then the Explorer might seem like an ok value to you, but to keep updating to explorer every year, he’s just not offering enough value, and skipping an update is probably the way to go.

Those 2 will be the first 2 released with the launch of Explorer 9. He said in the live stream that more will follow ater that.

So, yeah, if those 2 don't do it for you, best to hold off until news of the other additions to Explorer 9 come out. But, at least you know Go2-X and Albino-3 Legend won't be the only ones.
Until forever fades away.
