In re-installing BioTek2 and after downloading the 2.3.3 version and the current 7.0 contents file, both for Linux, there's only one preset available when starting BioTek2 : '11 Ladder Bass'.
I created a Trakction folder to move the contents in there and specified the path in BioTek2 :
/B3/Plugins/Tracktion/BioTek2/
In /B3/Plugins/Tracktion/BioTek2/Instruments/ there are about 215 files such as :
[...]
Songbird Bitcoin.biotekinstrument
Spiritually Uplifting.biotekinstrument
Staccomoto.biotekinstrumen
[...]
In /B3/Plugins/Tracktion/BioTek2/Samples/ there are about 197 files such as :
[...]
Insects Crickets Wind.acktionsample
Italian Country.biotek2sample
Kitchen Stuff.biotek2sample
[...]
The BioTek2 config is :
BioTek2 was restarted for good measure, but still the only preset that shows up is the '11 Ladder Bass'. No other preset is shown.
1) How to make available the complete set of presets ?
2) What is the Preset Sounds mentioned in the configuration ? There is no such folder at the moment.
Thanks.
BioTek2 installation : no presets

If my memory serves me correctly, I had something similar in Windows. The alternative folder location did not work, or kept crashing. The default installation solved part of the problem, but I still refused to use Biotek2 due to various inconveniences, giving my preference to Hy-Poly and its vector wavetable unit, which I never regretted. Biotek2 is an outdated, clumsy synthesizer. Albeit with a wonderful sound.

Yeah, it might just be not worthy of spending any time on it. When the problem is so clear, the path is there in the config, the files are there but it still does not see them. I've seen that kind of software problem in companies many years ago and it's not a good sign at all regarding the quality of the code.nowgad wrote: Tue Oct 10, 2023 11:47 pm If my memory serves me correctly, I had something similar in Windows. BioTek 1 works OK and I prefer it anyways as I ran BioTek2 when it came out - just don't remember what 'special' thing was done to make it run. I like BioTek 1 and the look of it specially with the 2D knobs and the values shown in their middle. I've seen that exact same look on some industrial software. Maybe that's why they dropped that knob design for BioTek2.
EDIT : I'd like to add that I do use obsolete synths as part of the regular tools. There's nothing wrong with 'obsolete synths' as long as they work well. For BioTek 2 it just doesn't seem worthwhile to spend time fixing what should be basic functionality. I'm still open to any fix although so far in 2 days nothing showed up.
Anyways I'm looking forward for the RayBlaster update around November. That's another, creative, way of using wavetables : Impulse Modeling Synthesis.
