just came in on my end so check your emails and/or status.Hi,
Sorry for the long delay on your order.
The promotion for TAL Software was agreed upon between the US Distributor and TAL Software. We ran the promotion as provided to us many weeks ago.
This was not a pricing mistake by us and in line with the many promotions we are running during our Anniversary sale.
We were informed today by the US Distributor that a dispute arose between them and TAL Software and they would not be supplying any more licenses for any outstanding orders and have ended the promotion.
A full refund has been issued for your Order ######
In addition, we have deposited $5 DeluxeBucks in your account to be used on anything in the future.
Please allow up to 48 hours for your refund to post to your original payment method.
Deepest apologies from The AudioDeluxe Team.

Felt like things were heading that way. I'm sure Patrick's side of the story will be a little different.

Got the same email, pretty bummed tbh. J-8 is a great synth, though. I was looking forward to trying Drum!
I really wonder what the heck happened here. This is about the worst outcome for everybody involved, but given how it's played out I feel it is unclear what actually went wrong. Obviously a mistake or mistakes were made.

It did not stand out as unusual in terms of plugin promotions. I have read more since and understand that TAL does not generally run deep cut sales like some brands do, but without that familiarity, in the space of plugins an independent developer's products being available at that price was not exactly startling to encounter on the storefront.
Also, it wasn't too good to be true for a lot of people, those licenses that did register are seemingly still going to be valid going forward. I would love to understand how things went wrong better so I can grasp the chain of events more clearly. I'm guessing that the developer freaked out pretty big time when his distributor came to him looking for tons of licenses for pennies on the dollar and that was not what he had previously understood was going to happen, but how in the world does such a vast disconnect manifest between the software developer and the distributor in the first place (I mean, the communication I've seen from the U.S. distributor seemed to be barely concealing some digs, even)?
Refunds makes sense as all that can be done in the end when the developer won't release licenses to honor the promotional sales, for whatever reason including "it was a huge F up and never supposed to be on sale for that price in the first place," it is what it is, but this kind of thing doesn't happen very often and it's bad when it does. I wonder how it went down.

Why are you so worked up?
It’s a f**king sale on a virtual product… 0’s and 1’s =$11.
A fair price as far as I’m concerned![]()
I assume for physical products too.
Luckily for us, you're not in charge![]()
I have over $20000 worth of hardware synths, and really appreciate a quality physical product.
I think software in general is overpriced, but $11 is ok by me. Cheers!
Apparently you have no idea about software development, regardless of how many dollors worth your synths are (they are just keys and wooden panels right?).
Yeah, I have $2000000 worth of some other stuff, that's why I'm entitled to post that hardware synth are wooden panels and keys, and the fair price is whatever i can find during New York City blackout(I'm still waiting for my TR808 though)
Good lack waiting for your Drum, hope it will be refunded or NFR'd![]()
All because the lady loves paying full price for sale software….
I don’t know a great deal about software development, and I don’t give a f**k. But to me there’s actually value in hardware, that I dont see in a virtual plugin. Sending you a big hug! Mwah![]()
This fairy tale is partially materialized with J-8, and now you've got ~$15 auidiodeluxdollors, so it's cool. It's just sale software.
Now you can buy yourself a Waves plugin (or half of it) - an "equiualent substitution to Drum" (or J-8). Since it's all the same 0's and 1's, regardless of devotion, R&D cost or DSP coding skill and quality difference - who cares. It doesn't matter right? You didn't want J-8 and Drum more than "any 10$ plugin", let alone 15$ one.
Mwah.

a couple of weeks ago when the NI site went crazy and gave extreme discounts, everyone was threatening lawyers and customer rights if they didn't get a license. Now they're here "Patrick-ing" and mimicking and being subtle. Why, because in the first case it was a big corporation (and that case really was a clear web mistake)?
That is not the case here, it is simply that TAL backed out of selling more licenses.
For me TAL was it, not that I really miss their drum license, but this disappearing for days attitude warns me against one man companies like this.
Oh, and to the too-true stories: e.g. does UAD's $49 Essential Bundle seem too good to be true?

what do you mean by that? Read the AD's letter. it was not a pricing or web error, the promotion was agreed well in advance (with TAL's distributor).Dencheg wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 5:31 amIs Audiodeluxe website TAL's?becseigy wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 5:20 am a couple of weeks ago when the NI site went crazy and gave extreme discounts, everyone was threatening lawyers and customer rights if they didn't get a license.
