An idiot on Set Theory:

The H9 pedal always seemed to me like an expensive controller for software that I already had, so I've never really considered it. The H9000 on the other hand, is something I would love to have if I could afford it, sadly I cannot.

I’m not sure how you came to that conclusion. It’s a self-contained standalone stompbox, not a controller.

I have the Eventide Anthology and H9 series plugins and I’m not sure if that covers all the algos on the H9 Max pedal. Obviously the major benefit with the plugins is you get to use multiple instances at the same time.

The H9, H90, -Factor pedal algos are essentially the same as the plug-ins. There are small differences in parameters but essentially the same.
If you do most signal processing ITB, it makes no sense to go with the pedals over the plug-ins. But if you mostly work with hardware, I think the pedals are a good way to go. The controls and I/O are very well thought out for performance purposes, more than studio work. But still right at home in the studio, as they use high quality parts and there are just tons of useful sounds in those boxes.
The H9000 has those algorithms plus some of the other Anthology bundle things (Omnipressor, 2016, Instant Phaser, etc), plus H8000, Orville, DSP7000 and H3000 stuff too. The H9000 also has vsig for creating custom algorithms. I tend to use the H9000 as a bunch of plug-ins, with the Emote editor and then the I/O on the box are just a part or my larger Dante audio interface. The total recall via the Emote plug-in makes it nice to use within a DAW environment. I do a lot of work without a computer, so the fact that I can have programmable routing through Dante, ADAT, or analog signals without going through the computer makes it a very powerful tool in my studio.

After traveling nearly the entire width of the North American continent, and apparently taking a long and winding scenic route, I'm looking forward to 80 pounds (36 kg) of synth goodness showing up on my porch tomorrow afternoon.

In case anyone’s interested just noticed a Syntakt for £599 and a Rytm Mk i for the same price on the Cash Converters website. Won’t be there long I’d imagine.

My birthday synth was supposed to arrive today, but I just got this email from the folks at UPS:

Judging from that vague note, it seems I won't be getting my Ensoniq TS-12 after all. In one place, UPS refers to this as a "damage report", but they also say all the merchandise was missing, and they discarded the empty carton. I have no idea what happened. Did the package travel almost the full width of the North American continent, only to have the box rip open and my synth tumbled out of the box and out of a speeding delivery truck onto a busy freeway somewhere in Kentucky?
Did the seller ship me an empty box and cheat me out of my money, and UPS only noticed the box was empty after they had trucked it across the country?
Did someone steal my synth out of the shipping carton while it was in UPS custody?
How, exactly, does 80 pounds (36 kg) of synthesizer, accessories, and a hard case just disappear from inside its shipping carton!?
The time is 5am here, and the customer service department of UPS isn't open yet. I'll have to wait a few hours before I can call them. I don't know what happened, but I'm angry and disgusted right now.
