Not that bad… but it was mostly coming from the original designer. So it would probably be the same for Vital if a team could take over.Jac459 wrote: Sun Oct 15, 2023 3:31 pmSurge UI is shit. Although I really like Matt's design decisions, and there's a chance things would gravitate away from those decisions in a way that I don't like. I'm not a fan of Surge from a UI standpoint. Not that Vital would have to go to that team - but still the same point.liquidsound wrote: Sun Oct 15, 2023 2:04 pmIt should go into good hands like SurgeOzoneJunkie wrote: Sun Oct 15, 2023 1:43 pm I wish Vital got the developer attention it deserves. It's my favorite of the synths I own, and it's disappointing to see that it effectively looks abandon, although I don't believe that to be the actual case. Maybe life changed for Matt and he can't put time into it... Anyway, it's mostly functional for me, so I keep using it.

I havent used surge for years because of the UI, oh boy what a mistake. To be fair, after using it for a while, you get used to the UI and workflow, everything is on 1 page, thats pretty good compared to other synths. And surge is craazy powerful, you got so many effects. Its my go to synth now. The sounds you can make with it are mindblowing

That's subject to debate. I don't consider it abandonware yet. I'm still hoping Matt has the opportunity to put more time into it. I did pay for the highest tier version of it, and have no regrets there. But would love to see more things cleaned up and just have some stronger sense of support.
Personally I'm always thinking about what the future holds with changing technology/software, and don't want to be in a spot years from now where the latest OS doesn't support X or X doesn't run on the latest OS/CPU/whatever. I personally will abandon some synths if I feel like that's what the future holds for them.
Vital is too good, though. I really love the darn thing.

Hope doesn't necessarily make it true or untrue...however considering there hasn't been a lick of new or revised work on Vital in a year, (since the release of V1.5.5), I'd say that gets us pretty close to abandonware.OzoneJunkie wrote: Sun Oct 15, 2023 4:16 pmThat's subject to debate. Yeah I wouldn't say it's shit. Just very, very basic, and slightly different from everyone else. And very orange, until you skin it.liquidsound wrote: Sun Oct 15, 2023 3:37 pmNot that bad…Jac459 wrote: Sun Oct 15, 2023 3:31 pm Surge UI is shit. But everything else about this plugins rocks...

It's not the easiest in that there's no in-plugin editor but it is not so bad:
