Oh, that sucks :(

Yep. I was pretty gutted when I got the news in the early morning hours. I've had some crappy things happen to me recently. I was looking forward to that synth arriving, to help lift my spirits. I was pretty excited about it arriving today.

Oh well... :(

WTH, sorry to hear that, @McLilith! There was a post from a guy on Gearspace just a week ago saying that UPS somehow “lost” an Oberheim Matrix 12 that he traded $15K worth of gear for. Seems UPS might be a poor choice of shipping services for large synths.

f**k :( sorry to hear that.
can you claim the cash back through your credit card or anything?

Wow that’s crazy. I hear issues with all shippers, but it seems to be on a local level that’s like whack-a-mole to fix.

USPS has cleaned up here as much as I can tell. No problems since foosnark’s model:cycles, but specifically my local post office was a black hole for various things. I once had a Roland hat go missing and I’m guessing it’s only because they recognized the Roland brand.

AARRGGHH!!! :-x
That sucks to hear. Sorry you're dealing with that.

I shipped my Shared System to a friend in 2021 because I wasn't using it at the time and somehow the UPS place lost it before it was even picked up by their truck. Since it hadn't been scanned into their system, they fought me for months on paying out the insurance. I had to show them that I was in the process of suing them before they finally decided to pay a portion of the insured value.

I hope the claim process goes more smoothly for you.

I've had issues with every carrier but I never felt so mistreated as I did with UPS.

A Shared System disappeared? :o

That hits home because of how I still seem to be slowly building a shared system minus the 1u bus.

UPS sucks like that, FedEx supposedly will give you the least hard time, so im told.

When my $400 pedal shipment was lost by
the USPS, i would up splitting the loss with
the pedal dev.

good luck btw, hope it works out.

Why did you have to share the cost? Seems like that would all be on the seller/shipper and USPS.

One thing I found out through what happened with foosnark is that the USPS insurance is only good if it’s lost in transit.

If they mark it as delivered, then they’re not obligated to pay out.

The only thing hat helped us was security footage that showed the time the carrier arrived and how that was later than the time stamp on the delivery.

It wasn't his fault it got lost and the USPS stalled until it was too late to make a claim due to Covid, 1 year after it was shipped. He offered to eat the entire loss, but I didn't think that was fair. He's just a small boutique pedal maker out of Germany whom not many have ever heard of probably. Anyway, I like his work and wanted to support him is all. Guys like that are not really in it to make lots of money as that's pretty much impossible for them, they do it for the love of designing and building old school electronics. :tu:

Well, that sucks for both of you, but that was a very kind gesture! :tu:

It is what it is, I have no choice but to have stuff shipped in due to where I live. I've been lucky to have had maybe $50k worth of music related stuff shipped here over the years and only losing a couple hundred bucks worth. It's the risk we all take when having stuff shipped. I would advise anyone to look into things carefully before having very costly stuff shipped out to you.

Ensoniq TS-12 update:

Yesterday, the UPS tracking service said: "All merchandise is missing and the empty carton was discarded. UPS will notify the sender."

2 hours later: "Service disruption occurred. / The package will be returned to the sender."

If all the merchandise is missing, and the carton was discarded, what exactly are they returning to the sender? :o

On the other hand, if they found my missing TS-12, why aren't they sending it to me?

I tried calling UPS customer service for an explanation, but that was worse than useless. After 3 or 4 phone calls, all I got was some sort of AI assistant that was hard of hearing (made me repeat the tracking number about a dozen times), asked me irrelevant questions, made some vague unhelpful statements, absolutely refused to connect me to a human being, and then hung up on me. :x

This purchase was made through the Reverb website. I tried to contact the seller through Reverb, and even though I had traded messages with him recently, his account is now marked as "cannot receive messages at this time" and his Reverb store is suddenly empty.

I contacted a human being at Reverb yesterday and they promised Reverb would take care of me. They said one of their agents would contact me via email within 5 business days. So, maybe I'll have happier news to report in about a week. I still won't have my Ensoniq TS-12, but maybe I'll get my money back. Maybe. I'm not taking anything for granted at this point, but I will say Reverb has taken good care of me in the past. {Fingers crossed.}

I hope all my KVR friends are having better luck than I am.

Best of luck. Reverb usually does seem to be good at straightening this kind of thing eventually.
