The E-cores are still shunned by a lot of DAWs though :/ so need to lasso them, depending. One reason I went with R7950X.

I really don’t know what I’m talking about here, but it seems to me that, in order to properly take advantage of e cores, a DAW would have to have specialized code that assigns tracks with less processing to the e cores. Currently, if I remember correctly, most DAWs just assign each track to a core in the order they appear. Track 1 > core 1, track 2 > core 2, etc. Then it just starts over when you’re out of cores. So, it’s kind of arbitrary which cores get the e cores.

I’m guessing some devs are working on this, but from my experience it can take a while. Such an “invisible” feature isn’t usually a top priority.

I have no idea either, but, judging from that article, it sounds more like a thing which has to be managed better by the OS.

Or Steinberg is shifting the responsibilities, which could surely be the case as well, of course.

I hate nowadays tech. Way too bloated and complicated for its own good. Glad that I still have a 11th gen Intel.

It's a lot of cores, but the 6ghz is very cool too.

Some patches in Ashlight/Straylight almost pin a single core if playing a chord. (8700k running around 4.3ghz I think) This is with Cubase's asioguard, which is another factor I guess.

A few years later my friend had a 386 with the LED clock frequency on display. But the real impressive bit was the TURBO button. Always had to press that before loading up the BattleHawks 1942 game. Eat lead, Cheetah!

I was supposed to get one of those, but there was an obvious mistake at the factory. In the box was a 486 DX/4 75 instead. I didn't complain. Impulse Tracker was where it was at!

Got mine used with a dot matrix printer and a 14" screen.
MS Dos 6.2 and Win 3.11.

Yes. Also happens on Ableton and some others, you'll basically get perf drop or sound glitches etc.
No need to do such with Ryzen. Also 7950X is cooler and has better efficiency. The 14th gen seems a bit of a "what" from all the reviews seen. Lets wait for some DAW benches
