Hi, @MeldaProduction,

are you planning to incorporate Multiple Side-Chain Sources into your plugins? I must say I have proudly used your products since the beginning of your business, however, this feature of Frequency 2 in Cubase is so cool that I recently found myself using Frequency 2 more and more. If MDynamicEq had this capability, I would not hesitate to stick with it ;-)

Best regards

I often do this with MSpectralDynamics in Reaper. I route several instruments to the side chain of synth pad fills so that the pad ducks when and where the other instruments are playing. It's just a matter of routing the other tracks to the side chain input. Is there a reason you can't already do this in cubase?

Post

Of course, I can do this in Cubase with every side-chain enabled plugin. But your usage is different, you are mixing multiple sources into one side-chain input of MSpectralDynamics. This way, all processors inside of MSpectralDynamics react to the same (summed) side-chain signal. However, Frequency 2 in Cubase has multiple side-chain inputs, therefore, you can route a kick drum (with a base frequency say 60 Hz) to one side-chain input and a floor tom (with a base frequency say 100 Hz) to another side-chain input of the same instance of Frequency 2. Then, I can set up Frequency 2 on a bass track so that its 60 Hz filter reacts only to the kick drum and its 100 Hz filter reacts only to the floor tom. With MSpectralDynamics (or MDynamicEq) you will have to use two instances to achieve the same function.

Interesting. Yes, I see how MDynamicEQ would require a second side chain to do that.

MSpectralDynamics sort of already does it due to it's nature, but it's more precise, for better or worse, ducking only the exact frequencies in the sidechain.

Such EQ would be pretty unsupported by any other DAWs, so I'm afraid that is not really planned... Also this seems very very specific task, which you can always accomplish with multiple instances.
