Holy crap that daft little video I made with the Behringer Kobol that I posted in on here on Saturday has nearly had a thousand views.
Slightly up from my usual 20 or 30. I guess people are interested in the new gear Behringer are sticking out but because the synthfluencers are throwing a mardy they don't get loopop etc chucking out vids on the stuff weeks in advance so people are grubbing around watching the stuff even idiots like me put out.

If I'd known I'd have (a) put a little more effort into it and (b) definitely snuck some dodgy content in there somewhere.

Reminds me of a thread on the Elektronaut boards. They mentioned they couldn’t get hits without mentioning what gear was used.

I hope some of them stick around, or maybe you’ll get to wear the synthfluencer hat.

If you have a cat in the video it's like a 10 fold view multiplier.
My last video featured one of our cats and hit 10k views in 36 hours. Before that, most of my videos were in 200-500 realm and only a few have broken 1k views.

Was quite funny getting a comment on there where someone is trying to give me a list of things to do like I f**king work for them. I always get surprised how entitled some people are.

This Korg KeyStage looks like a reasonable start for MIDI 2.0 controllers in allowing any plugins/DAWs to share capabilities with a controller

I think £699 is a lot for the 61 keys version even if it does have poly AT. I wouldn’t buy this itself because it doesn’t have a range of controls, just knobs, and I’d really want something like Hydrasynth endless encoders that update knob positions as you page through control pages.

What the KeyStage gives you is pretty much NKS style controls over everything rather than just tying you into the NI ecosystem.

The MIDI 2.0 controller I want isn’t available yet, it would be something like a FaderFox but with a bigger form factor, good sized screen (or mini screen per control) and larger encoders.

Pre-ordered a Behringer Kobol Expander. Andertons claims there’ll be units coming 20th October, but Thomann says it’ll be months so no idea when I’ll actually get it.

Thomann is a bit unpredictable with their delivery estimates and I wouldn't take their word as gospel. I was going to buy a Wasp from them some weeks back then the delivery time was 8 weeks. A few days later it was in stock.

It seems it's not just Thomann who is unpredictable with their estimates. Behringer just informed the Thomanns that the expected delivery of the Kobol and those new minisynths are being delayed by possibly months.

I really don't need a damn more thing in my studio but I really looked forward to the Pro VS Mini. It sounds so wonderfully 80-90s.

Picked up a pair of BeyerDynamic DT700 Pro X cans and a new Stedman Proscreen XL pop filter to replace my beat up HD280s and cheapie pop filter that was falling apart.

The studio where I worked in the early 00's had an original and I really loved it. Very different from other compressors. I use the Omnipressor plug-in and the H9000 algo all the time. My studio budget is tight as I save for renovations but I just put my preorder in.

Nice. I kind of wish I'd gone for the TM mk2 (or Grayscale Permutation)

I am still considering adding the mid-sized Permutation (with the expander) at some point, but since I already had the hp committed, I much prefer/like having a single ('dedicated') panel for the components. If only for the reduced number of vertical lines/breaks between modules, and fewer knurlies. Which reminds me, I have six Doepfer 42hp black panels (somewhere) waiting for me to layout the holes for random 'stuff'.

{aside} This may sound odd, but a big plus for me I discovered/realized, is that the horizontal layout/vertical orientation of the sliders, with their up/down-left/right 'dance' correlates visually (being profoundly dyslexic) to the left/right 'bits' display of the generative machine. There just seems to be a heightened sense of continuity to what's going on. Could be just me.

...since After Later Alan is a bit flaky. The noise generator gets a little bit louder when the Length bit is high, which means it's biased toward flipping 1s to 0s more than 0s to 1s if I have Chance set to a sort of middle ground between locked and full randomness.

Also I can hear a mechanical "CLUNK!" in the noise output when I flip the Write toggle switch.

I can work with it, but this is the second time I've bought from After Later and the second time their modules have had... quirks. (Tilt's gate outputs are extremely screwy and they told me it's a flaw in their design, not a defect.)
