When Hive was first announced I had no interest in the synth at all. It seemed like just another me-too thin sounding, boring "Supersaw" EDM synth.

But when Hive 2 was released I took more interest. By then I was so sick of inauthentic sounding synth plugin emulations of classic synths. That's all anyone seemed to want for some inexplicable reason. Nostalgia? The absurd idea that a $150 plugin could sound as good as a $20,000 vintage synth? I honestly can't explain this mass delusion.

But Hive 2 was such a breath of fresh air. Sure, it doesn't sound anything like a Jupiter 8. But who cares? It's not supposed to. Hive 2 is its own thing and the better for it.

So hats off to u-he for forging their own path and releasing something that isn't just another inferior emulation of a classic synth with an archaic UI that makes no sense in software.

Or spending $20,000 and still not sounding 133.33 times better than an emulation :hihi:
