Nah, not good enough.Biome_Digital wrote: Mon Oct 23, 2023 10:13 am Fair enough, a simple "noise" osc allowing wav import is the minimum imo.
The problem is that in a Venn Diagram of sample playback in a synthesiser, "good enough", "too much" and "developer creates sample packs, not synth presets" are fully overlapping circles.

Actually, minimum is not even having that. Like all u-he synths.Biome_Digital wrote: Mon Oct 23, 2023 10:13 am

Urs should make Z3 Alexa-compatible. Not fully, only on oscillator two. And only on the first half of the wavetable. You know… creative limitations and all that.
Alexa modulate as much of the wavetable as you’re able to.

See, this is why I've been reluctant to ask the question previously.
I'm quite satisfied with the idea of adding a granular effect on the backside at some later version.
Sorry for the inspiration to derailment.
Thank you Urs for your answers. Keep doing what you're doing. Hoping to get it in our hands ASAP!

Not keeping up with all the new developments of Z3, so forgive my ignorance. Importing of Wavetables like in Hive, is that something one might expect?Urs wrote: Mon Oct 23, 2023 10:05 am We've had numerous discussions about this in there past, I don't think I have the energy to take up another. Maybe search "sample playback" in our company forum.

The CPU footprint depends on how much one uses. The individual components use a bit more than those of Zebra2, but not overly much more. We also for the first time have a few algorithms supporting SSE, AVX2 and AVX512F separately on Intel. Latter two should be supported by more than 95% of users, and that code flies.

How about DSP and SIMD on Apple M1/M2? I mean, there is more and more of those out there, and many in audio world use apple stuff. Will all the nice CPU optimization for SIMD only be for AMD64 architecture, oy you will also try to use the available DSP and SIMD instruction on the apple silicon to its full potential?Urs wrote: Thu Oct 26, 2023 10:59 am The CPU footprint depends on how much one uses. I thought it comes without saying. We support NEON on AS, but there’s just the one flavor there…
