The sound is still fantastic (better than most of the plugins you named). But, with that GUI, I can surely understand why people choose another synth. Which is especially sad when you consider that version 1 had a nice GUI.

I agree that it sounds fantastic still and full of character. I like its character more than other wavetable synths.

The GUI is not pretty but usable. I don't see a problem. I tend to make my own presets. It's a deep synth and I know most of its strengths and functions as it's very similar to blofeld (that I owned some years ago). It's a good replacement for blofeld and to be honest I prefer Largo 2 now because of convenience and 4 layers when needed

I'm trying to understand the basics with this upgrade, sorry if I've missed anything elsewhere but from what I've read new gui, 4 layers, nks bugs.
Never really used it but have the previous one has anyone got a link or summary please. Thanks.

Yeah, somehow Waldorf have released a worse looking plugin, while not fixing any of the usability problems apart from resizing, then just slapped V2 on it.

Quite the achievement, which smacks of desperation. Hopefully Waldorf aren't teetering like many other synth companies.

The main positive for me is that it runs native on M1 and much smoother than the Largo 1 plugin.
No more crackling sounds when doing filter sweeps or something like that.
The new GUI is not a problem for me, although I agree red on black is not ideal

The 4 layers has already been there in the old one, but I compared to blofeld, which has one layer.

The difference in version two, afaik, is the resizing GUI and new filters (formant filters). That's it. For me as I said before, it is an excellent upgrade because I can't use the old one due to my monitor resolution (4k). I loaded them yesterday and put them side by side and couldn't find any other differences. The sound is the same exactly for the old presets.

I have Largo. Love it but dont use it often because of the non-resizable GUI and some other bugs related to preset library. I am going to hold off for about 4-6 months and see what happens to Waldorf. I dont want to spend more money on companies that end up going out of business. I've waited this long and can wait longer.

But more important, if Largo 2 still doesnt work properly at higher sample rates its an absolute no purchase for me. history. I will demo v2 and check but if true I will not "upgrade" and consider Largo "plugin junk".

The current discount in upgrading is 10 euros (30 instead of 40). I think 30 euro is good for GUI upgrade (wish it the same like old one, but it seems they couldn't vectorize it right!).

I’d happily pay $100 for an actual upgrade, but to be honest, this should be free for current owners. Maybe $50 for new buyers. I liked Largo in its day, but that was long ago. Waldorf should be ashamed of themselves.

Let me explain.
There is absolutely nothing revolutionary or superior as structure ,modulations,options,BUT...
There is something in these filters and fx section i am absolutely inloved...can't explain why,but the combination of Viper and Largo digital filters gives me superb club sound.
Maybe is subjective matter of taste,but aside from that feeling, there is nothing special about it technically.
It's like you love your Golf,despite all ugliness and technican imperfectioons,cause it works,where you need it to work..like on bad roads in Bulgaria hihihihih

I've been wondering about that. I bought V1 but couldn't use it on Apple silicon, so didn't really delve into it. I'm not into those genres, but nonetheless the preset demos on YouTube struck me as having a certain quality that I liked, and it confused me since they're mostly in well-trodden supersaw/detuned saw territory.

- Largo 2 offers native 64-bit support for macOS (Apple silicon & Intel)
- with classic waveforms and 68 Wavetables taken from the legendary Microwave and Wave synthesizer as also Q and Blofeld.

I bought the upgrade, only 26 euros.
Looking forward to them adding a dark color schema and fixing some reported bugs.
