I, for one, really like this method of marketing. First of all, I really am eager to see what T2 has to offer. I'm fine with T1, but if T2 can offer me more, why not? It's exciting to see some news.
Second, this SHOULD give those who are impatient a reason to be quiet and stop asking every five minutes. Some people just won't be happy. They want some news about Tracktion, but when they get it, they whine that it's not enough. These people will be the ones complaining that T2 doesn't do what they want when it finally comes out. I don't know what it will take to satisfy these people, but I personally don't care if they are pleased or not. They probably won't be happy regardless. Tough luck, I guess.
Well, I feel like ranting today. But hey, it's Christmas Eve and I need to cheer up. Feliz Navidad!

The step sequencer looks to be a great addition, I can't wait to see what else is in store. If enough changes, I may start regretting buying Live (though probably not). I'd love Live to have a step sequencer. I really hope there's compelling reasons for me to use both together.
I feel like a voyeur, watching Tracktion develop from outside. Anyway, I'd really love to see T2 slay the Steinberg/Logic dragons.

I think the "few features per week" is a good idea - it'll give me something to look forward too, and should keep most of the groundhogs at bay for a while!

no actually good marketing is actually exciting the user base by presenting all that they truly can look forward to instead of saying little things here and there. Thats good marketing, especially for a software product.
Either keep all your information until release or dont. Otherwise it looks extremely sloppy. EXTREMELY.

Well, I have to admit... I don't read every single post that's ever posted here, nor do I remember back to an individual post from a year ago, in most cases. <chuckle>
However, last night (ie. before this response) I did a test myself, and you're right!
(the cool thing is: other people speak a lot about having a 'photographic memory' - but for scenes I've experienced/witnessed I've got something like a 'videographic memory'
edit: damned typos

Well that's good. Off you go then and market some software somewhere. Your fortune awaits.rpc9943 wrote:no actually good marketing is actually exciting the user base by presenting all that they truly can look forward to instead of saying little things here and there.

Apparently they got the idea from some little tosspot posting hoax threads in a forum.rpc9943 wrote:no actually good marketing is actually exciting the user base by presenting all that they truly can look forward to instead of saying little things here and there. You're really a mixed up dude, sometimes. You want to know if/when it's coming, and then when you know for sure, you're not happy with the way they did it. If they blew their load and told us all at once, you'd STILL have a few months to wait before it's ready and you'd complain "Why tell us now and then make us wait 2 months." IF they waited until right before release, they'd be missing out on opportunities to generate interest in the product, and you'd probably complain, "Why didn't they hype it up a bit more to get a wider potential client base?"
I think we'll leave the marketing up to the guys getting paid to do it.

obviously the plan is that T2 won't be ready for awhile, and Mackie wants to sustain interest by releasing information in piecemeal fashion. Its a legitimate strategy - maybe a bit annoying; but in no way I can understand calling it bad marketing.
Its certainly much better than the previous plan of saying nothing whatsoever - which doesn't do a whole lot to sustain interest.

if i can retain my "lone voice in the wilderness" status and talk about something entirely different. Beno does this to mean that the aforementioned and reappraised "soon" viz a viz. the Final MIx for Mac issue will be in the same "soon" timeframe as T2, or some time prior?

Should be sooner. But I can't promise anything.sixnon wrote:Beno does this to mean that the aforementioned and reappraised "soon" viz a viz. the Final MIx for Mac issue will be in the same "soon" timeframe as T2, or some time prior?

rpc,
I'm sure you are a marketing genius. And I'm sure Mackie has NO idea of what they are doing. Yeah, sure. They should hire you. THEN they would do things all right, since you already have an "in" with Jules, and you are a marketing master. I wonder what's taking them so long to hire you.
Man, I'm still in a bad mood. I hope I don't hurt Santa tonight when he breaks in my home.
