At least the point of the “Matt, please let us know what’s going on with Vital” thread on the Vital forum was finally addressed. It might even had been considered productive (and remained unlocked) had Matt posted this reply back in August, when that thread was created.

Matt finally checked in to his official forum today, to reply and lock the “Matt, please let us know what’s going on with Vital” post:

“Don’t really think this thread is productive so I’m going to lock it.”
“To answer the question, I’m still here and working on Vital. I’ll make an announcment when there’s a new version.”

After deleting posts that wouldn't have been made if he hadn't ghosted his own forum for so long. Ironic that he mentions something not being "productive".

I think no need, he certainly doesn't care very much lol....

Just to summarise, in one side we have one developer who has given 1000s of people an awesome synth, regarder by most as one of the top synth available, for free.
And on the other side we have a few (2?) persons raging because they don't get enough of his attention...
I think the case doesn't need white knights . It is more of a no comment case....

I think those of us who paid for it, especially the top tier would have a different take than those who use it for free.
I actually wont' be surprised if it turns out that it was giving it for free which might play a part on the length of time taken to fix long standing bugs, some which preceded afaik his announcement about illness in the family.

You are missing the point by a mile. Not everyone got Vital for free. Some of us paid for it and I imagine some people signed up for the subscription plan as well.

At that point he's selling a product and those people become his customers. Then as customers he has an obligation to them just like every other business owner on the planet. I can not possibly explain it any simpler than that......

I've been saying it all along, Vital is not a free synth it's a commercial synth with a free version. In the past I've always encouraged everyone to support the developer by at least purchasing the Plus version in order to encourage further development.

I've always maintained that giving away the almost un-crippled free version was a huge mistake.

I wouldn't be surprised if the free to paid user base ratio is 20 to 1.

But when I bought the pro, knowing the history of the synth, I took it as a donation.

Clearly this synth is built with open source in mind... 80 USD is a way to support. Nothing else.

Well , being managing director in a bank I am not used to be considered as the generous hippy, that's refreshing...

I run an open source project in GitHub (you can google me) and I made a few thousands USD from donations (it wasn't my purpose but it happens)...
I never gave any specific stuffs to the people who sent me money. I am not for sell.

I think the vital guy did it in the same spirit. At one moment he tried to make it a real company but obviously he doesn't give a shit about it and is not interested into animating a community.
That's perfectly fine for me and it was pretty obvious for me when I sent the money that it wouldn't give me a better support.

One man software company?
That is not a qualifying reason… Jo (MuLab) IS one man operation and, an extraordinary product with incredible commitment, honesty and full support with a superb line of communication.

So, Vital is a product with roosters, cows and dogs making noise?
And you spent $80 knowing that? You must be from the UK then, as you explained it above

But if Matt has a real family issue, I feel sorry for him and I wish him my best and, of course, never mind my $80.
