UAD still worth it?

In the middle of working on a project, suddenly a UAD plugin stops working and asks to activate license. Did the internet connection drop out for a bit? Who knows. But if I hadn't opened the GUI I might not have noticed, and this is the kind of crap that one doesn't want to have to be worrying about. If I was rendering a project and some of the plugins had deactivated I might not notice until further down the line.

Just wait till you get a message on connect saying you need to restart your DAW for UA plugins to work. I've had that happen to me.

Very nice plugins but Connect + Ilok is problem after problem for me.

Do you just mean problems with the iLok cloud sessions, or iLok in general?

I’m honestly curious.

I haven’t had issues with the physical iLok but I still keep hoping they add machine authorization.

The Ilok cloud. It asks a couple of times a week for me to reauthorize before I can use any UAD plugins. UAD support has sent me more than once a boilerplate solution which hasn't solved anything. It's the only Ilok problem I've ever had.

Well, at least I’m happy people are reaching out to support because even with boilerplate responses it’ll become overwhelming enough they’ll have to reconsider changing to machine authorization for financial reasons.

But if it's the case that machine authorisation isn't as secure so they will only risk the freebie, why does East West allow MA but NOT iLok Cloud?

I read somewhere that Cloud costs more for the developers than MA. The implications are obvious.

UAD Bundles month is extended through Monday. Universal Audio always rolls out new plugins/sales on Tuesdays. So I suspect we’ll see something new then.

They mentioned new plugins this month.

Why are they so slow to port more plugins over to Native? It's such an incredibly slow trickle... been waiting on the RMX 16 to show up as a Spark / Native plugin for what feels like years at this point (and maybe actually has been? lost track!)

Yeah, hope so too. But if there are new Native plugins that we have been wanting, I wonder they might not be at their best price immediately? Let's hope the prices are tempting for the new Native plugins too.

What i suspect is coming next tuesday (too) is finally vst3 for the uad dsp versions and a proper installer finally.
For sure the latter request has been my top request for at least the last 10 years from uad, and the first one my other request at least for the last few months.
So I am stoked.
