Hi Bulent

So far Synthmaster3 seems to have massive potential. I can't wait to try the beta version. I'm especially super enthusiastic about the sampler engine (being able to load your own multi-velocity samples is fantastic and it's a feature very few synth plugins have), the spectral filter, the wavetable editor, the fact that you can convert audio files into wavetable and the fact that it has MPE capabilities. Awesome features.

But I have a couple of questions:
1. I've seen (I think on the facebook group) that SM3 will feature a Sliced Loop Oscillator. I'm very curious about this. Can you please give us some info about it cause I couldn't find any.
2. Are the effects per-voice (like for example in Falcon, Equator or PhasePlant) or just global?
3. SM2 features modulation curves in the ModMatrix, which is a very important feature in my opinion but unfortunately this modulation curve in SM2 is very basic as you can just change how steep the curve is. I would LOVE to see an editable (multi-point) curve in SM3, like the one you get in Vital, Equator or Halion for example. An editable modulation curve is extremely useful for more advanced sound design and for creating very complex/organic patches. Are you planning to implement something like that?
4. A "snapshots" system like the Transform Pad in Apple's Alchemy (was called Remix Pad in Camel Audio's Alchemy) or the Scenes in Omnisphere Sonic Extensions is a super useful feature especially for a very expressive live performance and I don't understand why so few developers implemented this feature in their synths. Would you consider adding this feature in SM3?

Cheers!

Actually, 18 pages in ain't that bad! :D
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

This will be similar to the "Slice" mode in other samplers like Logic Sampler / Ableton, etc.
You will be able to define slice points manually, or automatically using a threshold setting.

Right now we have filters and waveshaper as "per-voice" effects. As for the filters, I added Phaser as a per voice effect and improved the Comb filter so it can behave like a Chorus/Flanger effect.

I recently modified the "Keyscaler" so now it takes a modulation source input, and can be used to shape/distort the incoming modulation source. I am actually planning to rename it as "Shaper":

I don't think I would have time to implement something like that. But in future versions maybe.

Thank you very much for answering my questions! Looking forward to the SM3 release!

Post

is it a free update?

Post

I think Bulent said it will be around $29 or so.

Post

thats not bad, where is a link to see the list of features for version 3?

Post

I can't find a complete list but found this post from Feb.5th on Facebook:

1. Add/remove layers dynamically (up to 16 layers per preset)
2. Add/remove layer modules (osc, mod, filter, operator, fx, etc) dynamically (up to 32 modules per layer)
3 Add/remove layer modulation sources (env, lfo, seq, etc) (up to 64 sources per layer)
4. Load SynthMaster One/SynthMaster 2 presets into any layers (ex: load a synthmaster one preset on Layer 1, synthmaster 2 on layers 2 & 3)

Yes, SynthMaster 3 will be released on iOS as well, in 2024)

We still have a lot of new features in the pipeline. The following features are going to take around 6-8 months to complete:

1. Granular oscillator
2. Multi-sample editor
3. Auto-sampling
4. Wavetable editor
5. New modulation sources & modules such as Delay module, and random modulation sources..

the trend seems to be the "all around" synth plugin that can do it all.

Indeed. Personally I don't mind it at all. If somebody _actually nails one_ it would be a huge benefit because it'd would make it a no-brainer "go-to" synth for most tasks.

Unfortunately nobody has nailed it yet, not even close.

Biggest issue with Synth Master 2 was that it was clunky and quite buggy. In short, it had "jank".

If SM3 can be truly polished and feel solid in it's operation and combine that with good sound quality for all aspects it is offering, then it will be a contender for one of the best synths ever.

Yea I def agree. I can find faults in every single one out there. Phaseplant, Pigments, now Current.....although, Current actually is the closest so far. The sound quality and presets are nuts.

SM3 really has to have a slick UI first and foremost. Features are always on the horizon with any company, but the UI has to hit hard man. Current is gorgeous to look at, and you know Serum 2 is going to be slick

Mmm, in my memory it was a free upgrade.

Edit: no actually it is for the owners of the everything bundle.
