Good that we can finally load a default view.
Ironically you can add third party to the main browser but not the side panel. But this might be the final nail in the coffin for that while full pane browser - it's usefulness is pretty marginal at best, there's still a ton of problems with it.

Biggest WHY? from me in the the release notes is:

REMOVED "Batch resave" and "Batch collect/Compress samples" options in File menu no longer appear when Kontakt is hosted as a plug-in

This is the single trick that saved me a bunch of wasted time, whenever I bought a third-party library and it had path problems (it happens, not everyone is aware of the difference between an absolute and a relative path).

Now, for whatever reason, I can only do this in the standalone Kontakt?

EDIT: and the loading times are still abysmal; hope skipping the fullscreen library and going by default to the 'classic' rack view will make things more bearable.

I was about to buy a very cheap 2nd hand Komplete Kontrol mk2, but now I'm filled with doubt...

For what it's worth, i LOVE my Mk2, love how the keybed feels and I think the DAW integration is like nothing I had seen before - I also love what they did with the Mk3, but I'm not going to replace it :D

My only gripes are:

- Mine had some lingering electronics problem, it took some back and forth with support, but in the end they had it shipped back and forth to Germany and repaired at their expenses, even though, by then, it was out of warranty (big ups to NI support).

- Some of the encoders are stiff (the right kind of stiffness, if you ask me), some other are VERY loose. Incidentally, the encoders on the much cheaper M32 feel much more consistent to me. Hopefully this has been fixed on the Mk3 by mounting what I think are the Maschine+ encoders

- The touch strip. I hate with a passion having it underneath the pitchbend and modwheel. I brush against it all the time and if the plugin i'm using responds to Expression, it quickly turns onto a mess. I would have loved a second modwheel, Yamaha-style, but once again I think the place they moved it to on the Mk3 is better than leaving it there.

Thanks for the user review. Food for thought. It is cheap... and good.

At least some of you guys can actually download the new player!

I'm getting "download failed" for anything I try and update in Native Access. I was hoping to buy Triaz (which only works in Kontakt Player at the moment) but I've wasted so much time trying to fix Native Access that I won't bother now. Going to remove all my NI software after I've bounced out any tracks using their software.

How the mighty fall.

For anyone else bothered by ads in the full version of Kontakt, I've started an NI forum thread asking for its removal. Please do add your voice.

WOW! This is _really_ annoying! This is of course always open with each new instance and you can never get rid of the whole bar. At least I see no option to disable it.

This sucks so much!

Edit:
"Collapse & View > Set current view as default" helps, but doesn't get rid of it completely.

I wonder if anyone from NI reads this stuff or even cares what users think?
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I use Kontakt 6 instead of 7, which is 100 dollars I'll never see again.

7 is a joke afaic. The new browser is garbage -- I only use the old one. They say you can 'add non-licensed banks' to the new browser, but literally every single one I've attempted to add has simply resulted in a pop up error saying it can't add it. Cool, cool.

Then there's the (not talked about enough) GIANT SIZED INSTRUMENT GRAPHICS FOR NO REASON AT ALL. the controls take up literally 3-5% of the total space. It's just huge because oh wow it sounds better when it's huge, I guess. Garbage.

Now I learn there's ads at the bottom! what a shit show.

kontakt 6 all the way until I literally can't use it.

Do you think they still honestly can cross out "I'm not a robot" on recaptcha?

Same, just have to not update the soundbanks or they stop working!

For those who care, I opened a support ticket to ask if it's really not allowed to sample their synths to make loop packs or one-shots.

They've confirmed that IT'S NOT allowed to sample Massive X or any of their synths.

I understand if I can't sample Kontakt libraries, but syhths?!

Goodbye, NI.

To be honest, with the way sample matching is done automatically this can make a bit of sense.

People have been pulled up for using samples from packs that have already been used in another track.

Why would you want people to e.g. sample a preset and put a claim onto a tool you're selling to people. You'd want to be sure at least someone can use a preset and not get immediate issues when releasing a track.

is there an app that converts kontakt libraries to other formats? a translator perhaps... ;)

i haven't used kontakt in years. been using UVI falcon and samplers built in to DAWs.

this isn't possible for a lot of people who rely on kontakt's libraries and features for scoring and other stuff... probably difficult to switch to something new at this point.. but falcon is pretty awesome once you get used to its workflow. nothing is going to be perfect but there's at least some options out there.
