It's true that some people might be using the generic code without even knowing it's from Loopcloud.Choikdoi wrote: Wed Nov 08, 2023 8:33 pmOffering the synth is a tactic, yeah. But making the code generic wouldn't help them with that.martinjuenke wrote: Wed Nov 08, 2023 8:02 pmFully intentional sales tactics to lure new customers into their system.Choikdoi wrote: Wed Nov 08, 2023 7:48 pm Happened with PolyMAX too. They would have fixed it after that, if they cared.
But, since the generic code got leaked for PolyMAX too and they haven't made it non-generic this time either, can't be causing them too much trouble.
But Loopcloud and Plugin Boutique are owned by the same company (Beatport).
So they still get publicity, traffic, and potentially more people signing up for Plugin Boutique.

Super 8 is now included in PB's clearance sale bundle.
And vst version is discontinued months ago.
It seems super 8 is already abandoned plugin for NI.

But a non-generic code would've meant they had to sign up (and therefore more cash, as well as publicity and traffic) for Loopcloud as well as Plugin Boutique. Whereas a generic code means people only sign up for Plugin Boutique if they don't already have an account, to register the freebie. So it still doesn't make sense why they'd go with the latter.Ou_Tis wrote: Fri Nov 10, 2023 2:41 am It's true that some people might be using the generic code without even knowing it's from Loopcloud.

Apologies for a boring Waves WUP question, but my Horizon licence expires in a week and the WUP cost even with discount is $123. The next bundle up costs loads more. I am being offered an upgrade path to Horizon + Restoration + Saphira + NLS for $60 however, just wondering if I took that would it give me another year of Horizon?

Normally yes. It cannot hurt to ask Waves support or a reseller just to be sure.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Fri Nov 10, 2023 8:21 am Apologies for a boring Waves WUP question, but my Horizon licence expires in a week and the WUP cost even with discount is $123. I would think - this place makes terrible poverty inevitable so that people are forced into jobs they hate and that will substantially harm them physically and mentally. Other people then buy them by the minute in a relation that is as close to slavery as they can find in the modern USAAloysius wrote: Thu Nov 09, 2023 5:49 pm Bargain Center: discussion, gossip, etc.
Prostitution is legal in 10 of the 16 counties in Nevada
What would a first time visitor to kvr make of this?

If you click on 'add to cart' then check under order summary you should see a line that says 'Waves Update Plan - Free' and if you click on the "i" button next to this, it should say 'All selected software products in your cart include free updates and access to Waves technical support for one year.'
A little trick for getting cheaper. Assuming all is OK, remove the item from your cart, go back to the 'My upgrades' and select 'customize upgrade'. Select the '+' button next to 'buying from a local dealer' (or use the link) and ask to be sent a code. Then go to https://everyplugin.com/waves-upgrades (I am not affiliated, just a happy customer) and follow the instructions to get a price. It has always been much cheaper for me and everything is automatically registered in your waves account as though you purchased from waves direct including WUP).
nb: you must ensure that you give plenty of time (hours) before the waves offer ends as 1) everyplugin will send you a price, 2) you need to accept the price and request payment link, 3) everyplugin sends payment link and 4) you need to pay. All of which must be done before the waves sale prices ends. Not been a problem for me in the past as all normally happens fairly quickly. But could be that timezones might be an issue if you wait for the last few hours before the deal ends.

That's not necessarily true. Generic code makes it free, non-generic code requires paying $2 and having to worry about canceling the subscription, as well as having to sign up for both Loopcloud *and* Plugin Boutique---many people won't bother doing all that. But many more people will use a free code at a single website, even for an old plugin like Super8 that they're not really that interested in.Choikdoi wrote: Fri Nov 10, 2023 5:28 amBut a non-generic code would've meant they had to sign up (and therefore more cash, as well as publicity and traffic) for Loopcloud as well as Plugin Boutique. But some people certainly will insist on going the "virtuous" route and signing up for Loopcloud. Just as some people will pay full price for ridiculously overpriced plugins, whereas many more will be willing to pay periodic sale prices. This way they're trying to get both sets of people to maximize their reach and (above all) their numbers.
Or maybe I'm just rationalizing the actions of stupid lazy corporations... but they've probably looked at the empirical data on generic vs non-generic code and found they get preferable results (by whichever metric) with the generic code.
