then will watch all the video intros/tutorials, am sure that will be enough (altho much prefer a hands-on trial)...

Current is more fun to use and Avenger sounds better. There you go, problem solved.

the greatest synth ever... absolutely notzvenx wrote: Thu Nov 16, 2023 2:24 pm Glad to be of help..
But of course I think Avenger 2 which I have never played with only heard a few demos is great, the greatest synth ever...

Of course it's the by far greatest synth, no other synth comes even close and obviously one of the most popular ones, just check how many pages the main thread has.
And the best thing is the fact that it's mainly a new creation, not just an emu like for instance Mini Moog used in a million songs (I know other devs also have created new synth, but quality-and featurewise and user-friendliness, well...)

Feature wise Avenger 2, but I am afraid that Avenger 2 will suffer from the same CPU issues like Avenger 1. Extreme cpu spikes on both, Mac and Windows, also on Arm and Intel, making the plugin unusable as a workstation/workhorse in a song context with other plugins and low latency. Hence I would say Current (which assumingly is based on the Vital sources). But we will know at 24th. If there is a demo version...

Unusable? I heard of some mac issues with spikes. I have pc and can use 10 instances of Avenger without any issues and I have an old computer.Hanz Meyzer wrote: Thu Nov 16, 2023 4:51 pm Feature wise Avenger 2, but I am afraid that Avenger 2 will suffer from the same CPU issues like Avenger 1. Maybe it's your daw, Reaper + Avenger work flawlessly.
Dev posted in a thread that cpu of V2 has even been improved, we will see, cpu never was a problem for me with Avenger

Ftr I was clearly being sarcastic, having never played with Avenger 2.
Do I think Avenger 1 is the greatest synth? absolutely not.. it is good, even really good synth though.

No, it has nothing to do with mac, it is a problem in the code, the code design. I also already explained this problem in detail in many posts in the Avenger thread. The devs ignore the problem, also now, it seems to me. They still say there are "some users with problems", but I can tell you that anybody I know who uses Avenger has the same CPU spikes. Lot of people stopped using it in the end as a workstation, just as I wrote. You need to measure the cpu usage it properly, e.g. using Bitwig's cpu graph. You will only notice this problem, if you use specific presets and playing multiple instances at the exact same moment. Then the spikes will totally kill your cpu/project. You can still render in place, but this really is a shame.DCrown wrote: Thu Nov 16, 2023 4:54 pm Unusable? I heard of some mac issues with spikes. If you (only) have a 1080p or smaller screen, then Avenger probably isn't going to work for you - it doesn't look great here on a 24" 1080p screen. I was told, after asking for better/bigger font scaling below 100%, that I should buy a higher resolution screen because if I can afford Avenger and I'm serious about making music then a new screen is a must... yeah, whatevs.

lol another learned lesson: wait for a synth to be OUT before discussing it. still, if it's a next-level avenger 1, there can be some discussion. anyway, hoping for a demo, but ready for an onslaught of videos (if nothing else).

I have lots of expansions and the stock sounds, I remember not more than 8 presets had spikes and I always check all presets.Hanz Meyzer wrote: Thu Nov 16, 2023 5:02 pmNo, it has nothing to do with mac, it is a problem in the code, the code design. I don't care about 8 presets less and don't complain, that would be making a mountain out of a molehill.
If it was a problem for everyone hundreds of people would complain and wouldn't buy newly released expansions and no one would care about the release of v2.

Here it is the most of the presets, and pretty sure that my cpu is faster on single core than yours.

Dcrown, U are leaving out the key part in your use.
What sample buffer size are you using.
If u use 256 and higher sure, especially if u r a quantize king.
For those of us who use 64 or so it spikes like crazy *. Clearly if u r doing edm and use 512 like Manuel and quantize the hell out of it, it would be fine.
