Just saying these were problems since the beginning and for some it got worse with every new feature added. Maybe that's exactly the reason why there is no demo version anymore. Don't try it, just buy into it

Quantize? I never quantize!? I am a musician, I mean, I am able to play some real instruments, too, quantization is a no go for me. Do you mean midi quantization?zvenx wrote: Thu Nov 16, 2023 6:05 pm Dcrown, U are leaving out the key part in your use.

For those of us who use 64 or so it spikes like crazy *. Clearly if u r doing edm and use 512 like Manuel and quantize the hell out of it, it would be fine.

My buffer size is 256. RME interface.
I am not into edm.
What's the sense in using 64 buffer size, especially when it causes issues?!
I suppose it is a problem caused by the daw, I use Reaper and never had issues, spikes or crashes except some IK Multimedia plugins rarely in the past, never checked if they work with newer version, I don't use IK Multimedia a lot, only 3 plugins sometimes

Cause it feels better. Much better. I can feel delay if i try to record/play higher than 64/128.
I can't play midi or recored audio higher than 128 and most importantly it is avenger than has the issues at 64, 99.999% of my other plugins don't.
And at least for me, not using avenger was a better choice than compromising my playing just to play avenger.
That said with my new apple native s
And using 128 it hasnt been much of an issue.
But try it at 64 or 128 to see what we are talking about.

I was never tempted to use 64, but with 64 I would have some issues with several plugins as far as I can remember, that's why 256 is the perfect buffer size for me.
All I can say is that it works fine on Windows, RME interface and Reaper, 256 buffer size

Right, but that it works for you doesn't mean it should work for others.
Btw there are a few studies that concluded that above 10ms (which on most devices it is 128 or lower) humans can sense delays.
Some people say they even sense it at 4ms which would require them to record at 32 or even 16.

I see your problem. Yes, I have heard 12-13 ms most people start to sense delay. With 256 I think I have 6.8ms delay, but have to ckeck, I am not 100% sure.

Did you run rtl utlity to come up with that number?
There is a long thread on gearspace with databases of such measurements.
Indeed rme came out on top but from memory the 6.8 range would be between 64 and 128 sample buffer size.

I will also check if I get spikes using Avenger with 128 just out of curiosity.
About 4 months I used 128, but the reason was not Avenger, I think it was demo version of omg forgot the name, just wait..
I forgot, I was testing some demo, well, I am getting old.
Phase Plant! Interesting plugin, but that's a plugin I can not use, too high on cpu and delay.

Yes pre my apple silicon I couldn't play most of arovane phae plant patches at 64.
