Exports not showing up in project 'exported' folder on mac

[Tracktion Waveform Free 12.5.11 mac] When I export a project as mp3 (or .wav) the export shows up in the Waveform app under 'exported audio/midi' and the local project exported folder on my mac shows that it's been updated at the time of the export, but there are no files in the folder. Why are my exported mp3 files not showing up in that folder?

So Waveform is able to see the exported audio files in the Projects tab but you can't see them using your OS file browser?

If you select a file in the Projects tab then you can see where Waveform finds it using the information at the bottom.

According to waveform all of the exports should be in that folder. Clicking 'open the folder containing the file' takes me to the empty folder

Not sure if this is the cause but sometimes WF saves the export in the 'Renders' folder. Not sure why but when you export you can see the path of the folder it's going to save to and also you can reset to the default 'Export' folder by right clicking on the location button. This has caught me out in the past so worth checking

Update: if you show hidden files (shift + cmd + .) they are in the exported folder. Strange that they do end up in the right place but my mac hides them
