But what I´m talking about is exactly the reality, and when we all in the end are sitting in the digital prison we got in because it was so damn short term convenient for the dumb majority, you can continue to talk about your "free market"-ideology, if you can and dare to without getting slapped in the face by your inmates.chk071 wrote: Fri Nov 17, 2023 4:12 pm
That's not decided by what comes out of an individuals mouth, but by how good the business model works, for company and the people out there who subscribe. Seems to work for Roland (and the people who subscribe), otherwise they would have scratched it years ago.

That's ...not a bad deal. And three months is long enough to make samples of everything I need and then unsub.Examigan wrote: Fri Nov 17, 2023 4:07 pm The subscription idea can yield a lot of music if you only want to use some plugins for say, 3 months for instance. They have that special that's 3 months of Ultimate for $49.99 which isn't bad really.

You are not in a prison. Just don't subscribe, and vote with your wallet, if you don't want a subscription.hebex wrote: Fri Nov 17, 2023 5:53 pmBut what I´m talking about is exactly the reality, and when we all in the end are sitting in the digital prison we got in because it was so damn short term convenient for the dumb majority, you can continue to talk about your "free market"-ideology, if you can and dare to without getting slapped in the face by your inmates.chk071 wrote: Fri Nov 17, 2023 4:12 pm

Again, I really don't know why that bothers you at all, as there are lifetime keys.

I subbed in 2017 at release, there was a loyalty program paying for 2 years at once, later that disappeared and Roland introduced P4L, i switched then (with help from roland support) from the loyalty to the P4L sub. each program had/has a max of 10 keys, so 20 in totalCaine123 wrote: Fri Nov 17, 2023 8:31 pmthx, wait you can have 20 keys? i thought the max is 10 keys? i need to check my account.Septic Underground wrote: Fri Nov 17, 2023 9:58 amIf they only release a Legendary title every 1-2 years, it is cheaper to just buy the lifetimekey and skip the sub. I work for Roland, and I love working for Roland and I'm here to advocate for you. There is only so much I can say about Roland Clouds future plans and there are only so many ways to say "Stay Tuned" lolol. But I am here to help if you need me and pass along your concerns and what you think works about Roland Cloud and what you think doesn't.
Thank you!

Hey hebex! Just so you are aware, Roland Cloud offers all of our instruments and plug-ins in the form of Lifetime Keys. This means you don't have to have a membership to use Roland cloud gear and can purchase them outright. All that is required to maintain authorization is to open Roland Cloud Manager while connected to the internet once every 30 days.hebex wrote: Fri Nov 17, 2023 3:28 pm Well, it´s tragic that Roland persists with this deeply hated subscription business model. I love the sound from several Roland synthesizers, but using a subscription synth is just out of the question. It´s not newspapers we´re talking about, it´s musical instruments.![]()
Would love to see this cptgone! I think a v2 of the all the TR series would be amazing. I haven't heard anything yet about the next v2 updates but I guarantee they will all get the same treatment eventually. I will make a note of this for you and pass it along!cptgone wrote: Fri Nov 17, 2023 4:37 pm Will TR909 be getting any upgrades?
With competition heating up, the only thing keeping me from retiring my Roland Cloud TR909 is its sequencer (mainly cause of the variable track length per instrument the Last Step button allows)
Please add step probability though![]()

Hey y'all! I know GALAXIAS is your favorite so I thought I would post this amazing tutorial that shows GALAXIAS's potential and how you can think about using it in the future.
Again DAW compatibility will be available very soon!

Honestly, I would love to get everything right my first time. I don't. It would be silly of me to expect anyone else to as well. This includes things I get paid for... I am always asked to "go back" and "touch this up", or "fix this".
And....I would expect the same of Roland. I like the products...I am a Korg fanboy...but I like Roland products. I have had the cloud for several years and own a Fantom 6, along with a TD-27 kit. Years ago I owned the 808 and a Juno, and later the original Fantom and an RS-9. I think Roland delivers. For a company that has its hand dipped in so many directions I am quite amazed at the pace they keep up with.
Galaxias was a bit premature...but I get the direction, and honestly, I quite like it. ACB is still high on my list... I can't wait to see the SH-101 on my Fantom, but I can be patient...
Still, a new synth or two would really boost the community....right Jon?

I find Roland's hit and miss history rather endearing. I started in the early 80s with a SH2, CSQ100 & Dr Rhythm, I've got more Roland hardware than any other make now. Hardly a fan boy, I hated the D50 with a passion, still do and my U20 more or less killed my love of electronics for a while. I bought a PMA5 a few years back and sold it again almost immediately.
But I really can't think of a company that has done more for electronic music in terms of breadth of offerings. Jupiter 8 is usually in the top 5 of desirable analogue polys (although I find it a bit boring), the Junos brough affordable polys to the masses and still sound great. Those utter failures and completely unrealistic 808 and 303 have apparently found an audience somewhere. Boss chorus remain the best in my opinion. Space Echoes, Guitar synths, SP range, Electronic drum pads..etc etc. Whole genres have been supported by Roland stuff.
It's interesting that a number of the failures are now regarded differently and again that's rather nice for the original teams that were involved in their creation. I can't help thinking that their willingness to try stuff and sometimes keep trying despite what the market tells them is again rather sweet in this age of corporate focus group led production.
Against that background the Cloud is probably something that Roland will be doing the Roland way. Sometimes glorious and sometimes missed opportunities but there you go. Rant and rave if you like but don't expect Roland to shift too much.
So Roland, thank you for being Roland. (Only just don't add a PMA5 to the Cloud, ok?)

I agree on the Jupiter 8 and for me it is a safe plane and Basic sounding Synth with no Special Mojo compared to some other synths and i feel the same about the Prophet 5.ChamomileShark wrote: Sat Nov 18, 2023 12:01 pm I find Roland's hit and miss history rather endearing. Because of that it is easy to get similar sounds from other synths without owning those 2 but then again people loves to argue about +- 1-5% difference in terms of sound.

I was curious why you'd hate the D-50? Maybe becuase it was used a bit too much in movie soundtracks and artist's tracks?ChamomileShark wrote: Sat Nov 18, 2023 12:01 pm I find Roland's hit and miss history rather endearing. No, I hated it from the start. Just not my sound. Maybe trauma from having some of the D50 patches on the U20. My background is with analogue synths, although I also like hybrids like the PPG stuff and there is other digital stuff I like.

I downloaded Galaxias and being an Ultimate subscriber, I expected to have all of the various instruments available. They all are labeled “not installed” What do I need to do?
