Don't they say they will refund everyone who bought this deal because this was a mistake?
I have only seen someone say that (on GS) and that was about the 'Ultimate' deal apparently- no idea how they would do that, they would have to refund credit cards through 2 different authorised 3rd part vendors and then cancel licences? Now that would be a shit storm, I suspect they will probably just live with it (they may even be glad of the extra cash)

There was an ultimate deal???

Not exactly. There was an Ultimate glitch. Also a Complete glitch. Someone on Gearspace paid $499 for the Complete 1-> Complete 2 upgrade, did not own Complete 1, but now they own Complete 2. Based on the fact that the Audio Deluxe and Plugin Deals purchases worked for people who did not have prior qualifying hardware or software also, it appears UAD's authorization backend did not check for eligibility, just generally speaking, an affliction that seems to have plagued the plugin industry this year (consider earlier glitches for Izotope and Native Instruments plugs, happened to TAL too, another smaller dev Kuassa had a related problem and actually DID retroactively remove licenses from people who had registered them, though if you activated and downloaded them already you got permanent offline license files that could still be used if you were so inclined).

I will always think of 2023 as "Year of the Glitch" going forward just because of how many companies basically gave away the farm for peanuts (relatively speaking) thanks to licensing issues and storefront glitches. Very kind of them to let people keep the licenses, though of course doing the other course is just about 100% guaranteed to piss off people who will never spend money with you again. Human nature, mercurial creatures are we. My private perspective is that people will buy what they view as affordable in proportion to desirable, so this money for any of these companies is likely money they would not have had otherwise, since no prior sales were attractive enough for the people spending now to jump in. I therefor feel it is probably wise to just let it ride, while fixing the leak obviously. Tens of thousands more people giving you hundreds of bucks each isn't nothing, big cash injection and it gets them into your software ecosystem. Glitch or not, they became a customer, and you now have their money right now and plenty of opportunity to get it in the future.

(Side note: Kuassa's situation was a bit more dire as the bundle given was a perpetually-increasing bundle to which items are added on release; it was literally everything he makes for guitar, and would be "forever," plus he was asked to delete the licenses by the merchant in that case. I like Kuassa, don't want to portray them badly or unfairly.)

I am not sure UAD have any elegant means by which to redress this, also, it appears that if the purchase went through and the licenses were delivered, people got lucky. If it didn't, people got refunds or are getting them. But they have paid attention to this and appear to be taking steps to mitigate the damage and prevent further such activity. For now. Same thing happened in October, there was a thread about it on the UAD forums that was locked with a note saying that it was an unusual situation and not likely to happen again... Two weeks later... :o

Don't be ridiculous. That's an amazing deal.

If it doesn't level up your mixes it's a skills issue alone.

Hahah, yes, the problem is 'you' because 'you' don't value the product at the same level 'I' do. That must be it.

I also got all the native UADs in all this madness, me personally I most certainly don't feel I wasted my money. Some of these are considerably better than the alternatives I've relied on previously, not to say those don't also work in a mix, but there is a difference in feeling when the sound just clicks right away, what you were hoping for. It is not the case with every one - there are other good native plugin developers, obviously! - but enough of them so far are wowing me that I feel I certainly got what I paid for.

The events surrounding have been utter chaos, though, and watching it, I can understand a feeling of concern. Kind of a shit show, hasn't it been.

Well, the bundle is excellent value, that's just a fact.

The plug ins in the bundle are fantastic set of tools. Absolutely top quality.

If someone questions the value of the bundle at that even further discount, then I don't think they appreciate what they're getting.

It would level up almost anyone's mixes imo, unless they already had some other top level tools.

The bundle is only an 'excellent' value if you value the bundle.

The tools aren't going to work themselves. There's a bit of know-how involved...

Not much. You just grab a knob and twist, and it sounds good.

Not just that one. All of 'em. https://vintageking.com/software/softwa ... turer=7552

Who knows if they've fixed the entitlement check, who know if this is just some mis-listing and the licenses aren't there if you try to get 'em, who knows anything. But those are the bundles that people were getting that were unlocking everything without an appropriate entitlement check, apparently, over the last ~week or so as this all has unfolded, and building on the same thing that was happening in October for a prior upgrade offer. It seems very unlikely that such a problem could go on forever, I mean, it would have to be a priority to fix it, right? Risky risky business.

I hope that UAD is able to get things together and present a sensible face to customers again soon, this has all been wild, chaotic, concerning - is... everything OK at UAD?
