P.S. But there's not a single reverb in the cupboard. Maybe that's why I still feel incomplete.
Smart. Best to only add gear when you have a reason for it. I have a similar approach and mindset, although I'm not as restrictive for this simple reason: certain pieces of gear can challenge and alter your approach to composition, so occasionally loosening up to experiment can be money well spent, even if it only teaches you how you don't want to work.harryupbabble wrote: Sun Nov 19, 2023 3:32 pm you can only be gassed if you have tons of cash
me i actually have to save up
my last purchase was a zoom audio recorder almost a decade ago
bought it offline
took me a while to save up 400+ dollars
and i ended up not using the effing thing, it just sits there
software is where it's at and i get by with freeware
once i master songwriting (i wish) i might care about better gear
and acquire them, somehow

Just because ALL of my Facebook friends are synth manufacturers or music gear companies, my VST list looks like a New York phone book, I have one table entirely covered in hardware synths, and I could literally use a different MIDI controller every day of the week doesn't mean I get GAS!![]()
