So what's the difference between the "Rift distortion" on that page that's coming soon and the Rift that's already out, that's on sale at Pluginboutique for 50% along with MorphEQ even though they said there would be no sales better than the 33% discount you end up with from the sub (I guess they didn't say whether it was just no sales on their own website and not vendors) ?Jac459 wrote: Mon Nov 20, 2023 3:33 pm But then there is this very weird page:

Rift's also 50% off on their own website with code RiftMotion50.Digivolt wrote: Mon Nov 20, 2023 4:19 pmSo what's the difference between the "Rift distortion" on that page that's coming soon and the Rift that's already out, that's on sale at Pluginboutique for 50% along with MorphEQ even though they said there would be no sales better than the 33% discount you end up with from the sub (I guess they didn't say whether it was just no sales on their own website and not vendors) ?Jac459 wrote: Mon Nov 20, 2023 3:33 pm But then there is this very weird page:

No extra discount for already owning Rift Filter Lite or Rift Feedback Lite. Though to be fair I got them both for free (or free with purchase in Rift Filter's case)... but other people paid for them.

I was just taking a look at their website and was wondering if it was terrible due to the awful to fit to their awful aesthetic design, but I now see it's likely consciously confusing. The plan seems to be to get enough customers locked in to later charge them more once they perceive their investment to be too high to switch. I really want to support everyone who makes MPE-compatible instruments but I guess we'll see if they shed whomever is dragging their reputation bleeding through the streets behind them.

You do get access to the full versions - I have Fuse Compressor available for download in my account. I had never previously bought it.
I agree it's confusing, but people making wild accusations about being tricked into subscribing is laughable. If you have no idea what you are talking about, don't post pure speculation, instead send them a support request with your specific question(s) (they got back to me quickly with 2 questions I asked).

I can confirm this - you get the full versions. It's pretty clear in your account as soon as you buy this. I did screenshot the relevant segment from the account - as you can see: it says what you own as perpetual license, and what you get in the rent-to-own package for the time of the contract. Hope this helps a bit to end the speculation here. Yes, it could be a bit more clear from the website, but then send them a mail - they respond very quickly. No need to scream "scandal! scandal!" all the time.

So you never paid for Rift seperately?
I still think you get access to the FX -outside- of current - while you RTO, but after that (and with perpetual) you get access to all the FX only in current.
That's just me though

This is correct. The All Access program gives you all of the effects as standalone plugins. They are always available in the synth.Jac459 wrote: Mon Nov 20, 2023 3:33 pm That's what I am trying to figure out... In the website they say :
Included with perpetual:
Full Integrated Effects Rack
Standalone effects are available for purchase separately.
So I would assume than the plugin effects are included and the standalone effects are .... standalone. So not as plugin but external to the synth.

What you see there is a new unreleased distortion effect which is sort of like a little brother of Rift. It has been renamed to Polar Distortion to fix the confusion. Rift is not a part of Current, just this new distortion module. This will be a free plugin for Rift owners.Digivolt wrote: Mon Nov 20, 2023 4:19 pm So what's the difference between the "Rift distortion" on that page that's coming soon and the Rift that's already out.

Stoked you've been enjoying Current! We're trying to clear this up still.kraster wrote: Mon Nov 20, 2023 2:36 pm I love Minimal's plugins and I've been having a blast with Current but boy do they make it confusing for people.
Everything seems to have some kind of oddly specific stipulation.
I own everything in terms of effects and also have a permanent Current license but if I were starting out I'd be as confused as hell.
Here's the clearest way to view it.
We have two product lines at Minimal Audio
Current & Rift
Current -- A synthesizer & suite of effects and expansions.
When you purchase Current, you're buying a synthesizer the same way you always have. The rest is a new program we're building. There are no gotchas or things which will just randomly stop working. The is no "in-app unlock" aspect to Current aside from the expansion packs which will be available to be purchased separately.
Rift -- A semi modular distortion effect & suite of smaller plugins based on its individual components.
When you purchase Rift, you're getting Rift + the auxiliary pieces included in the purchase.
The website is changing to present our product catalogue in this way.

only downside is CPU when many voices are playing, the difference in mono would be negligible.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Tue Nov 14, 2023 2:53 am What's the downside of keeping the control rate down at 8 always?
And any comments on the relationship with attempting audio rate modulations with the envelope follower?
The envelope follower will follow this control rate setting.

Sorry you feel that way but it's mostly confusing because we had to do a hard pivot of the entire system within 24 hours of launch and are now building this new program publicly. -- We didn't have a way to track individual user accounts when we launched the initial program, so the focus was just on that for the first month after launch. We're now reworking the website & also still refining everything. I think the only thing I can use to defend myself really is just -- if you buy Current perpetually, you're only getting added value through all-access.runagate wrote: Mon Nov 20, 2023 4:46 pm I was just taking a look at their website and was wondering if it was terrible due to the awful to fit to their awful aesthetic design, but I now see it's likely consciously confusing. For simplicity, outside of soundware you have two product lines: an instrument, Current and then an effect line which includes Rift, Cluster Delay, Morph EQ and the Fuse compressor.
Are the effects going to be split into smaller components and hosted in some kind of rack like Snap heap?
What happens to the current iterations of Rift, Fuse compressor etc.
