Glad to have it back since Linplug is gone. I would love to see other Linplug items re-released... I hate that Albino has no update path. I agree that this "already great" synth could easily be an awesome synth.

Rob Papen on FB told me that they are not going to do it soon because there is very little demand for the other Linplug stuff. Also, the code is very different.

I kinda like that it's still got the old school charm honestly

I don't think a refresh could make it as good as DUNE

Spectral is amazing, I still have it loaded in my plugin folder. Such a shame it was left to die.

Shame really. I know I'm probably alone on this, but I was watching and hoping to see Saxlab get improved and further developed.

A reed modeller is really missing from the pack IMO.

Saxlab is great. I still use it.
Unlike Albino which I have not used in years.

It would be awesome if Spectral could be given the same treatment as Vember Audio, Surge. Rather than leaving it to rot, make it open source and have a team expand on the feature list and take it to the next level. Pete, if you're reading this, leaving that as a gift to the community would be legendary.

anyone know where Albino Legend's files are stored on Mac?
specifically, i want to move the vst file from the rob papen folder and place it in my Synths folder, but when i do - the VST3 cannot find the plugin (so obviously it's not a real VST3!! just a wrapper)... is there a text type file i can edit for the VST3 to be able to find the VST2 ??? cheers

It isn't pretty, but you may be able to edit the .plist in the VST3 to tell it where to find the VST2. Although it's best just too give in and use the folders in /Library/Audio/Plugins/ like a good and dutiful Mac user. :D
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

i'm using the path, but i have folders such as Delay, Reverb, Compressors, Synths... no company names, i leave the VST3 path to all the company names, cos in Cubase i just custom sort them all into effect type folders.

The issue is, i want to take the vst2 from the plug-ins/VST/Rob Papen folder and put it into my plug-ins/VST/Synths folder and piss the Rob Papen folder off. It's the ONLY company name folder in my VST2 root, but seeing as the VST3 is only a wrapper, i'll just use the VST2 instead. Unless there is a specific text file i can edit. The one in Preferences does not have the file path for the VST2.

The plist in question is in the vst3 bundle itself. But, yeah, hard-coded paths kinda suck...

ok i just checked it, i can't see any vst path.
I guess i'll just use the vst2 until i can iron it out.
I'm assuming then that the "VST3" is just a custom wrapper for the VST2?

Yes Rob and Jon use a wrapper for their VST3 versions. Rob posted that it would take so many man hours to create VST3 versions for all their many plugins so they went with a wrapper and they are not alone. There are other developers who use a wrapper although I can't remember which ones off the top of my head.

I kind of support the decision for Rob Papen synths because I'd rather they spend precious development time on new plugins or updates to current ones than kill progress just to make dedicated VST3 versions.

they don't mind the MONEY though, from people like me whom they spammed with a promise of a VST3 version

f**king whack, especially considering the whole LinPlug fiasco.

never again Rob Whacken.
Never again.

it's been a while, but still the same shit.

by the way, NO other developers i know would stoop to a wrapper this lame.
Good ol days huh!?
