we also did MASSIVE upgrades from 1.0 to 1.8. - all for free. But internets seems to forget quickly...

msvs wrote: Thu Nov 23, 2023 3:17 pmnope. I am sorry. The best and cheapest deal for the upgrade will be this Black Friday / Xmas (-BF% it will be around 89€ / depending on currencies and country taxes). I doubt it will be cheaper than that anytime soon.DarkS474 wrote: Thu Nov 23, 2023 2:59 pm Despite the new features as others already replied on the thread, if the upgrade price is as high as the rumored 99 Euros for existing customers like me then I will keep using the last 1.x version available.
As pointed out VPS Avenger usually gets discounted down to 100/110 Euros one or two times a year. Why should customers pay as much as the discounted price as an upgrade ?
It really should be half that instead !
Make it 59 Euros for the upgrade price and I would upgrade immediately.
If that is too expensive for you, nothing speaks against continuing with using version 1.8 - which is also fine and has tons of possibilities. Please keep in mind, that new features for 2.0 are already planned (a real piano roll with midi import for example) and everything will be free until 3.0 (if that ever happens), like it was all the years from 1.0 - 2.0
If that's what you want then I bet I won't be the only one not paying a 89 Euros or 99 Euros upgrade fee to 2.0
If you put 59 Euros and that's it many other than me would upgrade immediately.
But if you refuse to do that let's see how many customers will pay that much. I surely won't.
Also a tiny 10% discount for a Black Friday offer on a 99 Euros upgrade fee is not a good offer either.

Not at all, I have had Avenger since V1 but a lot of competitors have done all updates free, even major version (up to V3) including all the ones I listed.msvs wrote: Thu Nov 23, 2023 3:31 pmwe also did MASSIVE upgrades from 1.0 to 1.8. - all for free. But internets seems to forget quickly...![]()
I am happy to pay a small amount for an update and obviously its your choice what you charge, but it is a very competitive market (I only paid 69USD for Pigments in a sale!) so $100 for an update seems like a lot to me.
If you charge $50 for an update and 80% user updates, will you make more money than if you charge $100 for an update and only 10% of your user base updates?
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Unfortunately they seem to think that their customers are willing to pay a lot for the upgrade fee and they don't care about what their competitors do.
Maybe they will change their mind if there will be many customers not upgrading like me. Otherwise they will keep asking such a huge upgrading fee and that's it.
It seems quite clear from their answers.

yes, and if we would sell it for 15 bucks, we would even sell more.If that's what you want then I bet I won't be the only one not paying a 89 Euros or 99 Euros upgrade fee to 2.0

but not necessarily get more profit out of it. In fact it would just generating more download traffic for the big content files and support. In the fictional 15 bucks scenario, I guess it could even make negative amount. However: We know our business since over 20 years. We know what to charge for our work and what not, we also know, that not everyone might upgrade. But thank you for the tip

Because I only have a 23 inch monitor, it always feels a bit cramped. what I wish would happen is a pop up window for each section which allows that section to be larger whilst I need it.msvs wrote: Thu Nov 23, 2023 3:18 pmthe placements didnt change at all - and never will. But its a complete redesigned look, which you can see. Furthermore it just "feels" absolutely fluid due to a MUCH higher framerate.zvenx wrote: Thu Nov 23, 2023 3:17 pm I don't get the feeling there is much change in the GUI (except to accomodate new features of course)

My ideal price was 69 Euros, but will I pay 89 for it? yes... why?> cause that 20 Euros won't kill the bank for me.. though I don't' drink coffee the analogy is usually, that is two coffees?
I consider, though they are indeed very different, Avenger, Nexus and Rapid targeting roughly the same audience.. my nexus story is well..
... I like Rapid, it has fantastic cpu usage but for the most part it sounds very vanilla to me.. Avenger I really like the sound of (no it doesn't sound more analogue than analogue hardware to me either, but it is one of the modern synths that has a lot of what my old ears find pleasing in a sound (rapid, pigments, falcon, phaseplant et al don't really have it as much for my ears)... so yes Avenger is the one I have decided to 'bank on' as my go to for that type of sound (well that an omnisphere of course).. so when I wake up tomorrow morning I will be 89 euros poorer.

If that really would be the case then you would need to move your servers to a better host with lower bandwidth fees given that your software packages are not many hundreds of gigabytes in size but quite small instead so each customer downloading even multiple times is not using that much bandwidth.msvs wrote: Thu Nov 23, 2023 3:45 pmyes, and if we would sell it for 15 bucks, we would even sell more.If that's what you want then I bet I won't be the only one not paying a 89 Euros or 99 Euros upgrade fee to 2.0

Manuel knows the numbers that we don't and KVR isn't the entire audio world.

Yeah,, i get that, ofcourse. Except, quite a lot is behind tabs/dual knobs..I think the UI isn't the most efficient. It is fine though.msvs wrote: Thu Nov 23, 2023 3:29 pmno... and what should be displayed instead? A Black box?![]()
Extending the OSC would look totally odd and is not necessary, since everything fits well centered there, and would require a complete new GUI redesign, incl all skins.
Maybe an alternative skin/gUI could be made for a future version (U-He did a great job with Bazille imho).

Someone posted this link earlier which seems to cover it.Mr D wrote: Thu Nov 23, 2023 4:22 pm Could anyone some up the bullet points of what's interesting in 2.0?
I mean the actual synth architecture, not the soundpacks!
Thanks!
