Oooh! This is good! Trippy. Goes straight into my new playlist.
That video though...
Many thanks!

Fan of Grandaddy from their first album. Best band ever from Modesto! Was recently trying to explain their sound to someone and used Flaming Lips as a comparison, so you are on to something Vurt.
I was going to say My Morning Jacket, especially the Z album.Bodhisan wrote: Sun Nov 19, 2023 7:57 pm My Morning Jacket - I’d say you’re describing this band. Kind of hit and miss with me, but you might dig it. Copycat band Fleet Foxes was more successful - you may like them, as well.
In this vein you might like Khurangabin, The Shaolin Astronauts, or The Great White Canehimalaya wrote: Tue Nov 21, 2023 6:58 pm and here is an example of a brilliant track from Tauk ( I love this band so much!) that has some super cool synth noodling, but yet it's not the mood/theme I'm looking for.
Do check this out. I love the chorus!
Then you probably want to also check out Wooden Shjips...

Yeah, this is good. The very first track I clicked on ("Staring at the sun") has a very nice broad, lush sound. Sadly, no obvious synths or mellotrons, but the effects they use create a similar multi-layered* vibe. I love it.whyterabbyt wrote: Fri Nov 24, 2023 2:52 pmThen you probably want to also check out Wooden Shjips...
The few tracks from The Wytches and Dead Meadow are certainly on the psychedelic side, but I need them synths/mellotrons in there too...whyterabbyt wrote: Fri Nov 24, 2023 3:01 pmThe Wytcheshimalaya wrote: Tue Nov 14, 2023 4:20 pm Can you recommend new bands playing rock with maybe a slight psychedelic twist
Toy
Dead Meadow (not that new, but check Shivering King anyway)
Thanks. I will check these out. But Tauk is not the sound I'm looking for here. I just posted this to show a cool band that uses synths in a very upfront manner, just as a contrast to the 'style' I'm after. It's rare to hear powerful synth solos in contemporary rock bands (not interested in Keith Emerson's synth solo noodlings)._leras wrote: Fri Nov 24, 2023 10:50 amIn this vein you might like Khurangabin, The Shaolin Astronauts, or The Great White Canehimalaya wrote: Tue Nov 21, 2023 6:58 pm and here is an example of a brilliant track from Tauk ( I love this band so much!) that has some super cool synth noodling, but yet it's not the mood/theme I'm looking for.

And who knows, maybe even some of The Foals might be in this ball park.
