When I was on a P4L subscription it didn’t matter if there was a P4L offer active for new subscribers or not, it will continue to be P4L (so 2 plugins a year premium, 1 at Pro level) until you cancel. Equally it will continue once you hit 10 P4L lifetime keys, you just won’t get any further lifetime keys unless Roland get rid of that stupid and outdated rule.

If Zenology Pro was included as a choice I'd go for it.

@Jon at Roland.

Thanks for the reply, Jon. Fascinating points about the history of Roland sound design (videos are also interesting, but like others here I've seen those before.)

Just wondering, was WoodyPianoShack correct in saying that some of the Zenology patches/presets are SuperNatural ones? If so, where amongst all the groups/banks are these to be found? (I am guessing not the XV ones, since these are XV5050 type presets?)

I am glad you posted- I have 10 lifetime keys (just checked) so I couldn't get any more if I resubscribed?! They don't make that clear- is it small print!
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

To be absolutely clear, you should check which deal the keys were garnered under - check your account on the RC web site as it gives you a breakdown. You may find some of your 10 were from the first RC deal - I don’t think it had a name as initially the 2 plugins with a year of premium was a standard deal, it’s only later they reneged on that idea - so only the licences that state “Play4Life” count towards that 10 total.

Ah Cheers, you are correct- I have 10 all under 'Loyalty Rewards' nothing under Play4Life, s I said, problem was they stopped releasing anything new sop nothing really to have a lifetime gey for! Maybe if they introduce something new or include Zenology Pro...

Why post a video about Korg products? To show the competition out there? I have some Korg plugins and Roland stuff also.

Quick question for subscribers- is there any real difference in sound between the Juno 60 and Juno 106, they seem very similar to me! Seems like these should just be one instrument (like the 707/727).

It's cool as it is they have done PLAY4Life they really havent added anything since I stooped subscribing 18 month ago (an that was why I stopped subscribing)

I think the Juno 60 sounds a little darker.

In a similar position except I have 6 Play4Life licenses and since they one day arbitrarily just stopped letting premium subscribers swap out their instruments I’m only going to sign up again if there’s a new instrument I really want as current rules dictate I only have 4 lifetime license slots for the future.

I agree, It sounds a little darker and a little bit more punchy.
You can change between the Juno 60 and Juno 106 in the Juno 60 plugin but the Juno 106 plugin is only a 106.
When doing so it changes the HPF Filter to 106 mode while the LPF Filter, envelopes and the Oscillators stays the same but it gives you more bass in the 106 mode when hpf is set to Zero.
The 106 has a much better arpeggiator than the new and simple arpeggiator they are adding to all their new vst's that is set to 16th notes without any way to change it.

When it comes to sound i prefer the 60 but i wish they gave us the arp they use in the 106 or their older vst's like System-1 with scatter options.

I prefer to use a plugin to do arps and pass that MIDI on to the instrument. Obviously not an option if you’re using it DAWless.

There’s a really good free arp plugin that got bundled with Unify, but is downloadable outside of it named BlueArp
https://omg-instruments.com/wp/?page_id=63

but, I tend to use the dual arp in the Reason plugin or Cthulhu or even whatever arp is built in to the DAW I’m using, I like Bitwig’s as it lets you automate options via the inbuilt modulators.

Same here. Bitwigs arp is great and powerfull but the older arps in the Roland vst's are very usefull cool and unique (Specially the System 1 arp with the Scatter function).

I wanted to point out every difference between them to SLiC who asked about the 60/106 plugins and for some the built in arp matters.

IIRC there are some RC instruments that don’t let you set the arp tempo division, so yet another reason to avoid them. Oh just saw you mentioned that, yeah either their developers are lazy af or don’t actually exist and only brought in on a temp contract basis for specific jobs,
