Hi all,
I try to use Waveform 12 Free (64bit), but when I change audio device from Windows audio to ASIO, the app was stucked. (circle icon never been stopped forever). Windows audio and Direct Audio work. Only ASIO doesn't work. I found indicator on windows lower bar which shows ASIOALLv2. If I stop Waveform forcibly, it was disappered.
Is there any clue to solve this issue?

Not sure how one would do that. You have to launch Waveform to get to its setup tab, unless I'm misunderstanding your idea.

In my experience, driver issues are usually the hardware. I'd reinstall the driver in question, as a first step.

I'm also curious why the need to change to ASIO. What's not working with Direct or Exclusive?

For Windows, direct seems to be the most reliable transport (and allows you to listen to Youtube videos...), but can suffer latency. ASIO takes care of latency (usually, with a moderate number of buffers (256??), but usually wants exclusive use of the audio device.

Incidentally, that may be the issue. If something has the Windows driver locked, ASIO may not be able to get it's "exclusive lock" that it likes on the audio device, so it will never be ready? Make sure nothing is currently using the sound card when you switch to ASIO ??

Yes, you're right. I thought I'd changed it via Windows settings in the past, but apparently not.

I think Peter might be onto something.

It may work, or depend on hardware or other settings. I tried setting to windows audio, and playing Media Player and audio in a Firefox session, and then flipping to ASIO4ALL in Waveform 12 Free while those were actively playing.

All audio streams stopped, and Media Player/Firefox wouldn't play any longer; but Waveform didn't crash on my system and I could play normally via ASIO.
