MSF : Sources for wavetables ?

Following a Chandler video I saw that the basic MSF install does not provide much wavetables for the Wavetable modules. Where can we get more eg. of such categories like Harmonics, Foley, Analog, Transforming, etc... Do we have to pay for getting high quality wavetables ? I do not mind as at this point I'm only looking to add some to MSF.
Also, are any wavetables OK ? Are they all compatible, no (proprietary) formats involved ?
Cheers.

I just imported the wavetables that came with Pigments and any .wav format file should work. But one issue I find is once the wavetables are imported (as presets in the wavetable module), MSoundFactory loads the whole wavetable library into RAM (3+GB for one instance in my case) even when I am using only 1 wavetable. I don't think any other Synth does this. Maybe an oversight, but it's very resource-intensive if you have a big wavetable library.

Wow, I never noticed this, but it's true. For me, loading a wave table preset increased the RAM usage by +1GB. Crazy. I guess I'll have to be more selective about which tables I add to MSF in the future.lin0x wrote: Fri Nov 10, 2023 8:29 pm But one issue I find is once the wavetables are imported (as presets in the wavetable module), MSoundFactory loads the whole wavetable library into RAM (3+GB for one instance in my case) even when I am using only 1 wavetable. Edit: I added the wave tables from Pigments as well, thanks for the suggestion. But now, each MSF instance with a wavetable module uses 1.4GB of RAM

Memory use : looks like a bug. Hopefully noticed by the development team.
Held : Thanks for the link. Downloaded but not installed yet.
Interoperability : So I can use the wave tables provided with some Tone2 synths (Icarus, Electra) for instance. Or the wavetables provided with u-he's Hive.
Cheers.

Thanks, Held! And for reporting.

Since the interoperability of wavetables is high, it then becomes a matter of having all wavetables easy to access for every plugin. Not having to navigate folders each time when looking for wavetables. Since I use Linux the first reflex is to use symlinks, symbolic links to folders so that files are not physically copied all over the storage space multiple times. I think something similar to symlinks is also available in Windows, not sure.
There should be a way to centralize all access to wavetables within a music production system. That is, if the plugins are using standard folder/files browsers.
By the way, where are the wavetable presets for MSF located exactly ? The preset navigation starts at 'root' and does not have a 'reveal' option to show the underlying file system. I did a Windows-wide search for one of the preset and it returned nothing. Are they enclosed in a proprietary space ?

I found a decent workaround for the memory issue. After you're done with selecting a wave table preset, you can unload and reload the vst, and the memory will be freed again. In REAPER, this is called "Toggle selected FX offline".
I think they are in C:\ProgramData\MeldaProduction\WaveTable.presets. But this file is only 40MB for me. So the compression algorithm is either crazy good, or there's some data left else where.mevla wrote: Sat Nov 11, 2023 3:46 pm By the way, where are the wavetable presets for MSF located exactly ?

That does sound over the top. Wearing the disks down. Hmmm, I might also reconsider using it, if this is so.rtoip wrote: Wed Nov 29, 2023 4:27 pm Funny, once I checked what disk operations PhasePlant performs and I was amazed - dozens and hundreds of disk reads every second (depending on the number of snappins used in ONE PP instance) to constantly check the license. After reporting it, they said it was normal and not a problem, so I got rid of this product. Even the operating system did not generate such traffic on its own. It's ridiculous.

BTW, there are 679 wavetables already in the presets.mevla wrote: Fri Nov 10, 2023 5:13 pm MSF install does not provide much wavetables for the Wavetable modules.

I also mentioned in that same comment that there were no categories such as Harmonics, Foley, Analog, and Transforming. In retrospect what I did was to open the main preset list, the one from the top of the Wavetable generator. Which are generator presets, not wavetable presets.

Thanks !rtoip wrote: Wed Nov 29, 2023 4:27 pm Coming back to the topic, it is worth remember that random wavetables can be generated in MSF.
