I posted this in the Ableton 12 thread, but this is a super cool piano roll device. Just goes to show how much potential Live 12 is going to bring to the piano roll!

Post

These new piano roll/editor max devices are not in the rack but the main editor (integrated in the DAW?)
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Max for Live MIDI Tools
In addition to the built-in MIDI Tools, new Max for Live objects can be used to create custom MIDI Transformations and Generators.

By default, two Max for Live MIDI Tools are included in the Clip View’s Transformation Tools and Generative Tools tabs/panels:

Velocity Shaper allows transforming note velocities using an envelope.
Rhythm Euclidean generates a rhythmic pattern of notes.
These tools utilize the new Array and String objects that were recently added to Max 8.6.0.

To create a custom MIDI Tool, you can click on the Edit button when a Max for Live MIDI Tool is selected to open its corresponding Max patcher. You can change the existing parameters and then save the updated patcher as a new .amxd file.

For custom MIDI Tools to show in Clip View, they must be saved to a folder in Live's Places.

In the browser, Max for Live MIDI Tools can be found in the All and Max for Live labels. Max for Live MIDI Tools can also be found using the new filters MIDI Transformation and MIDI Generator within the Device Function filter group.

I'm wondering if these Max for Live Piano Roll tools will eventually be able to have larger windows or pop-up windows. I feel like this would be especially useful if someone develops a complex M4L device with a lot of options.

It’s free and perhaps can do what you need.
It’s fairly deep.

Watch the video because it’s more than just a sequencer…
It works with both Audio and MIDI
I have Gatelab but I am not aware that it can chop midi notes fed into it...which it doesn´t if I (and Xbitz) am/are right...

But nonetheless this is the right intension...

The Euclidian Chopper has nothing to do with the quantizer... or better it shall chop the notes on the grid... I am not looking for a real euclidian but for an already quantized one...

I just don´t want to rely on 3rd party devices like Falcon or Reason to have a chopper like this in Ableton... that´s why I am asking...

I don't think it's quite what you're after, but Slice Notes by Dennis DeSantis is pretty useful.

That alongside Reorder Notes can produce some interesting results:

GateLab does the same thing as the Euclidan rack extension, and even better (you can you pick the desired combination), and it does with audio as well.
But if don’t want third party plugins then it’s a different story.

I'm not sure want exactly what trancit is looking for. Thats seems like it could maybe fit the bill (maybe not)

That one should do it (no third party) according to trancit explanation, if we got it right…
Chopping and gate are the same unless he means chopping in smaller notes rather than chopping out.

Hexo also knows it ^^^ in Riff mode

As far as I remember, the live mode had to be wired to a fixed 'on' state, but it drops that setting every time it loads, so it also requires a 5-minute M4L session...one price double fun

It seems, we are talking about different stuff here and the image of the Euclidian Rhythm seems to be misleading:

I am talking about a Midi FX plugin which turns long midi notes into (gapless) rhythmic notes without arpeggiating (means changing pitch or similar...

So i.e. turning (according to your settings) these chord notes into this euclidian rhythm:
Chopping.jpg
.
No audio gates... not step sequencing... midi note chopping but with euclidian rhythms...
I.e. this was done with 5 of 16 of a euclidian chop script in FLS...
