Symbolic Links get used a lot by multiple apps, not just Sononym, XO uses them as well. So I pretty much only use aliases for quick desktop links.burkek wrote: Thu Nov 30, 2023 9:44 amThat does appear to work! Thanks so much!machinesworking wrote: Thu Nov 30, 2023 3:09 am The easiest thing is the github posted above, it gives you a contextual menu choice to make a symbolic link from any selection. I've had it installed for years.

I think you misunderstood. It's not that FAF has trouble resolving symlinks. It's that it doesn't create them. It creates aliases the way described above my response. Why I suggested reaching out to the dev of FAF and asking him to implement symlinks in addition to aliases.danoise wrote: Thu Nov 30, 2023 8:57 amThe main reason is that we offer the software on three different platforms which all support symbolic links. And it's actually the first time I hear of a software that has trouble resolving them (FaF).kidslow wrote: Wed Nov 29, 2023 4:52 pm I'm sure the Sononym devs have their reasons, like probably working at the filesystem level with their access.

I actually reached out to the FAF developer and he is considering my request to add symlink export. He's been very helpful.

I'm in the same boat, but it's currently $49, so I'll probably bite anyway. I also use DP11, the MPC, and sometimes Bitwig and Reaper. So this can help a lot in those cases. I mean $49 is literally diner for two without drinks around here.Rickskii wrote: Thu Nov 30, 2023 10:03 pm Was thinking to buy this but with Live 12 around the corner with it’s advanced browser, I was wondering if I would need it?

Anybody use it with Sonar Works Sound ID?
I get crackles and cuts and also very slow audition with up and down arrows.
Do not have these issues when auditoning with Mac Finder.

I say get it. I love this program. It's quite nice to be able to open it without a DAW and just make a "new" sample pack for the next time I'm working.machinesworking wrote: Thu Nov 30, 2023 10:36 pmI'm in the same boat, but it's currently $49, so I'll probably bite anyway. I don't use Sound ID Ozinga, but I have used it while applying system wide plugins like ARC or Nx with Audio Hijack and didn't notice anything unusual, if that helps at all.ozinga wrote: Sat Dec 02, 2023 3:12 pm Anybody use it with Sonar Works Sound ID?

I have sent emails to both parties and hopefully will see where the problem lies.

I ended up buying it for sure. Just scanned my factory loops folder to get an idea of how it might help, so far it's pretty cool, might even read the manual!oneway wrote: Sat Dec 02, 2023 3:29 pm I say get it. I love this program. Right away it has spot selection drag from the waveform, reveal in Finder, and similarity search is super quick. Definitely worth the sale price of $49.

Yep, when you fire up Sononym for the first time, a few minutes later you're thinking, how on earth did I manage without this?.. its a real lifesaver.machinesworking wrote: Sat Dec 02, 2023 6:42 pmI ended up buying it for sure. What I also found very useful is its duplication detection. Helped me clean up a few things

Simple question re. Sononym. Can the user select samples based on whether they’re mono or stereo?

'channels' is one of the (many) info columns you can choose to display for a sample so you can click on that column and it will sort results based off whether they have 1 or 2 channels.naughtybad wrote: Thu Dec 07, 2023 3:35 am Simple question re. Thank you!
I discovered the Atlas app yesterday and I’m finding it incredible for quickly putting together drum kits to export to hardware. However it doesn’t do the mono/stereo criteria thing which is essential for my needs (using a Bitbox 2) hence I ordered Sononym today.

So, first observations. Bear in mind I’m coming from Atlas.
Before trying to deduct tempo, I’m surprised Sononym doesn’t look for tempo information in a file name or a folder name (in the file path as shown by Sononym) when building a library database.
I’ve got over 200k samples across 3 libraries in Sononym now… quite a few tagged with the incorrect tempo although the tempo is provided within the filename or a folder name.
It’d be so easy to implement; if a sample name or a folder within the sample file path contains a 2 digit number greater than or equal to 60, or a 3 digit number, then use that to generate the tempo tag. It could be user selectable in preferences.
Is there a painless way to rectify my specific issue, one that I haven’t found yet?
Or do I have to do each one manually?
Also, is it possible to edit the categories to add more?
Many thanks for any information
