Until recently, when I'ved mixed my tracks to my satisfaction, I then exported a stereo mixdown.
I then use Audacity to normalize the (peaks) to -1db. Most of the time the result is ok but not geat.
So I bought Ozone mastering assistent and did some research about mastering.
On my master track I put Ozone, a limiter and metering. Then I aim to achieve -14 LUFF using Ozone's maximiser with the limiter set to -1db.
Here's the question.
The mastering chain (and RMS meter) is placed before the output fader on the master track. What setting should the fader be? If I leave it at the default 0, because the limiter and maximiser are pushing everything to -1db, the resultant exported audio is way to loud.
What level to export final audio.

Thank's for your reply and I'll leave the master track output fader at -0.1.
The Ozone Maximizer has a dynamic threshold control which automatically adjusts to keep the LUFS level at -14 while the track is playing. I then reduce the maximizers output to show approx -6db Peak on the meters before exporting. This is probably lower that most modern music, but I find it easier on my ears.
Thank's again
