but, where is the reason for what TS describes? That's the question.
Reversing clips?

Dunno why TS has the issue. As I indicated, I've not experienced it and have been considering what might have caused his issue but no lightbulb moment.

What you were doing in the first video is pretty much what I was doing, just with a lot of clips, and I wasn't editing them or moving them in any way.nowgad wrote: Wed Dec 06, 2023 8:27 pmI already thought it was a great guess, but no, it's not.operandx wrote: Wed Dec 06, 2023 6:08 pm I think the Reverse option in properties does reverse just the visible slice. However, the clip fx reverse acts on the whole clip some of which may not be visible if you have sliced it.
but I apparently found another bug... It shouldn't be like this

If my memory serves me right, then you have a fairly powerful computer. Try this in a new project. If everything is fine, then this again brings me back to my statements in other posts that Tracktion Waveform does not cope with a large number of tracks, and in your case, with a large number of clips. And this is a software problem, not a hardware problem. How sad this is...

It would interesting to see a video of the problem. In my own brief tests I can't get the regular reverse to have an issue. The ClipFX reverse, however, is not working the way that it should.
The "regular" reverse can be found in the Control Panel, the Actions Tab, and by right-clicking a clip.

Surely there must be consensus by now...

Unfortunately, it's the opposite. I've taken good care of my PC over the years, but she's an old girl now. I think I got this PC back around 2014, I wanna say...
If nowgad can teach me how to video record my desktop, I'll definitely try to capture the process.pough wrote: Thu Dec 07, 2023 8:08 pm It would interesting to see a video of the problem. If you grab one of the triangles and extend the reversed clip is the audio hidden somewhere? If you 'bump' the clip does anything change? (I sometimes get a render/edit/change to a clip where it goes blank and simply bumping the clip - moving it left or right, or resizing it, brings the waveform and the audio back.)

Eh, maybe this can be done. What will it give you to manually pull out the desired fragment from many clips? What is this program for then? Users should not think about this. This is incorrect and unacceptable program behavior.dysjoint wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2023 12:23 pm If you grab one of the triangles and extend the reversed clip is the audio hidden somewhere? Not a bad suggestion, since there's the stretching option. I tried it, though, and --holy crap -- the clip just disappears when you click on the clip arrow to try and extend it. I tried this both on a new track with a copied clip, and with the original.dysjoint wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2023 12:23 pm If you grab one of the triangles and extend the reversed clip is the audio hidden somewhere? Not sure what the heck is going on.

When it disappears, zoom right in on the starting point, right in as far as Waveform allows, and see if there is a tiny fragment of clip there. I get this if Waveform can't read a .wav file and I try to import it. I have also had it happen in an editing situation, not reversing, but I can't remember the cause.irpacynot wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2023 3:10 pmNot a bad suggestion, since there's the stretching option. As a work around, what happens if you select one of those slices, choose the render clip option in the control panel (don't choose 'render and replace', just to be safe) Do you get a render, and can you reverse the render?

Working with Waveform is like being married for 10 years. Hahaha, at least some benefit from Waveform, you can save 10 years of your life by learning from other people’s mistakes and live happily for these 10 yearsdysjoint wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2023 3:29 pm

Okay, so zoomed in as much as possible, and no apparent clip or fragments remained in between.dysjoint wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2023 3:27 pm When it disappears, zoom right in on the starting point, right in as far as Waveform allows, and see if there is a tiny fragment of clip there. I did, however, have success (well, partially) with your second recommendation. However, once I reversed the newly imported clip, it shrank down to a little over four beats. It was initially seven beats, and came back into the project correctly until reversed:

I played it back to confirm it was playing in reverse properly. It seemed right, and oddly enough, it seemed in rhythm with the rest of the song. But I did only play it back two or three times, and of course, it's only a seven-beat clip.
The mystery continues...
