Never understood the credence given to YouTube influencers. They're corporate shills, and are just a modern form of advertising.

I agree with you, but don't blame them, but people who decide to watch that kind of content. If all people where like me and you, this stuff would be completly absent.

Unfortunatly as you wrote we live in stupid times, so the it happens that "normal" people/contents get skipped in favor of this kind of stuff.

Ofc there are exception, cause we are 8 bilions and math tell us, that everything happens. So you find the most stupid human being famous and followed as a f**k as the most briliant and serious man to be followed the samish.

But when we see in the average zone, the biggest area seems populated by idiocratic contents, and if you try to do something different, you will just get punished, with some lucky exception but they are exceptions.

I can't blame the avenger guy to act like an idiot, maybe he is, or maybe he is acting. For the first, at least he is genuine, if the second is the case, he is just doing what makes people to watch more the video. Can we blame him?

It's a kind of content i don't like, so i'd probably skip that video, but the majority just stay more than a more serious version of this video

Not all. Many are just trying to provide good reviews or tutorials. There’s always going to be some bad actors. Be smart and learn how to avoid them.

They then wouldn't be an influencer though? Many channels are people actually reviewing stuff, and I would imagine that it works like it used to with them receiving stuff to review from companies. But many are paid by the companies to hawk the products.
