I’m surprised Sononym doesn’t look for tempo information in a file name or a folder name (in the file path as shown by Sononym) when building a library database.

No, you got it right - currently, the software is only using the audio to determine the tempo. But what you describe was actually planned for 1.5: a way to determine if the tempo was described in the filename, and with a semi-automatic method for determining "which tempo" to use.

Is there a painless way to rectify my specific issue, one that I haven’t found yet?

No, manual is currently the way to go.

Also, is it possible to edit the categories to add more?

I think you're looking for "custom tagging" - they are scheduled to arrive in 1.6, and will complement the automatic categorization...Or are you actually referring to training your own machine learning models?

I scanned a folder in which holds 163 GB, took a few hours to scan, and it's been saying preparing now for about an hour. I'm on the Latest build. 1.5.6 no demo, I own it.
Is there a reason why it's so slow?
Is there something I'm missing here ?

Question : Can we select just a portion of the sample we choose. To copy and paste to our daw? Each time I select a region inside a sample, it's copying the entire sample.. Anyone know if this is possible ?

I was unaware, but this feature already exists. You just highlight the area you want to copy and and drag it to your DAW

Yeah. I was scratching my head a this post. It's one of my favourite things about sononym. You can just highlight what you want and drag and drop the selection.
