Moog Mariana VST/AU/iOS Bass Synth

It has an absolutely raw and alive moog character.

I totally disagree with that statement. It doesn’t sound anything like any Moog I’ve ever heard, which is why I like it. I’ve owned two synths that use Model D oscillator and filter designs, so I’m very familiar with that sound, and Mariana is about as far from it as I an imagine. I’ve not tried the revamped Arturia emulation, but GForce and Synapse have done a great job nailing that sound. Mariana is a totally different animal.

The entire plugin is long list of poor UI design decisions. What’s weird is that it comes from a company that’s well known for having some of the best physical synthesizer interfaces ever made.

to be fair creating UI that feels ergonomic for the mouse and keyboard is nothing like creating a physcial inter.face Thats why some companies that refuses to adapt their emulation for the screen (hmm hmm cherry audio ) feels so bad in use. Thats no excuse for moog tho they should figure their shit out.

Hi. Found serious bug and before sending to Moog I want to be sure that is not just me. In Ableton I opened one instance of Mariana and I felt desire to compare it to Diva but BAM! Ableton crashes and Reaper too. Is anyone able to replicate this? (Live 11 or Reaper 7 on MacBook Air M2). It looks like these two doesn't like each other

IVe given this synth more time since my last post and the majority of the presets are meh but I do like the beef of the sub particularly,still hasn’t made me open my wallet though,I’ve made a track using it exclusively and the filter movements are really good

It’s good I can’t deny but not like an instant purchase with softubes moog offering

There’s also a PITA shirt delay when switching between the synth engines on my fairly decent Mac M1 which I can’t be arsed with

Got to say though a think moog are being very reasonable on the price (intro and full) ,hoping they will listen to the community and make adjustments to make it buying in the long run

True, but at least if they copied one of their knobby hardware synths, we’d have everything neatly laid out on a single page.

I’ll be honest the layout works really well for touch screens which is always my preference for control layout, tabs are much easier to navigate without a mouse no doubt about that.

Skeuomorphism is the modern boogeyman of UI design, but removing all visual cues that illuminate the purpose of an interface element usually does more harm than good. There’s nothing about Mariana’s style that couldn’t be done on a single page per synth, complete with a mod matrix showing all the current settings. It’s problem is that it’s designed for a touch screen and they didn’t bother to redesign the plugin version.

Yep I've never liked mixing in Live for this reason, the grey just blends the entire mixer into one mess for me. The 2D interface works in every other way, but with the mixer it's just too much.
