I believe I understand exactly what I am "skeptical" about here.. but I'm not really skeptical, I just don't like the concept.
It appears to be an LLM that is fed samples, which were labeled with certain qualities (dark, energetic, upbeat, downbeat, soft, hard, bright, melancholy, aggressive, etc), that then tags all the samples on their sample selection and has a query box to type in what you're looking for, based on these tagged qualities. From that I gather it can 'learn' to tag other samples it comes across, based on it's training.
Another blurb, on the hype page, seems to allude that it can somehow manipulate these samples to match these qualities too. Likely through some crossfading, layering, and pitching?
It's 'helping' to find, and possibly 'create', samples based on your project's concept, but is that really revolutionary? I'd say no. Like all 'AI', It isn't actually coming up with new ideas on it's own. It's just reorganizing and filtering what data it was fed.

I think it is just a fancy way for them to sell subscriptions to their sample library..
But, if you had a ton of samples on your hard drive, I could see the appeal of having a simple tagging system and a query box. That might be useful. So long as the tagging was properly done.

Are we discussing the same thing? "Co-Producer’s first tool is Pack Generator, which allows anyone to create a unique royalty-free sample pack by simply describing it with a text prompt." It's using generative AI to create loops. [Edit: apparently I was mistaken, it does use non-AI generated samples, though they are "often resynthesized": "blends generative AI with authentic audio samples created by real musicians. ... Co-Producer AI curates, combines and often re-synthesizes samples from our meticulously crafted royalty free library to generate entirely unique sample packs. The model only utilizes our [meaning Output's, for those of you not fluent in English] library of sounds."]VitaminD wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 3:24 pm I believe I understand exactly what I am "skeptical" about here.. but I'm not really skeptical, I just don't like the concept.

And I'd prefer to source and select my own samples than have an algorithm tell me what to use. For better or worse, my music is more personal and human that way. I don't see the appeal of slowly giving away bits of the creative process to various algorithms, starting with sample selection.

AI can't generate anything on it's own. It has no means for original thought or creativity. These are large language models (LLMs) that function based on what data is fed into them and can only function based on this data. That's the basis of how it trains. Without input, it cannot generate any output. It is just following orders that were programmed into it to derive some output based on specifics of what it has already seen.
If you read the hype page FAQ you'll see it is "curates, combines and often re-synthesizes samples from our meticulously crafted royalty free library to generate entirely unique sample packs. The model only utilizes our library of sounds."
Then it is outputting a small 30 count sample pack based on whatever descriptors you typed into the query box for it to work on.
So (from what I gather) if you ask for dark cymbals, it isn't necessarily synthesizing dark cymbals on the fly. It is going through it's sample library to see samples that are tagged 'cymbal' and 'dark' and returning that or, if it doesn't have those, is taking a tagged 'cymbal' sample and applying effects to it (where the effects are tagged 'dark') and returning that. Maybe in other cases it is taking two samples with the matching qualities and blending those to create a 'new' sample.

I was offline yesterday, so I missed the Sonokinetic offer from yesterday. At first look it was more than I wanted to spend, but then I noticed they were offering Sordino Strings for 24 Euros in that second deal. With the 12 Euro gift they gave with signing up for 12 days of Christmas newsletter, I was able to get it for 12 Euros ($13.75 for me in the US). Many people got this free when they offered it initially, but if you missed it like me and have the coupon it's a heck of a deal.

If you're after some classic, classy, industry-standard reverbs and choruses, it's definitely worth it. If you plan on exploring more UAD stuff in the future, just be prepared to find them in other bundles at a lower cost per plugin. In some way the Greatness of UAD deals this year depends on your focus and perspective; the plugins themselves are really good.don_sook wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 7:29 pm https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/ ... -FX-Bundle

If you are running Windows 11, then try before you buy. UAD plugins have scaling issues in Windows 11. I got Polymax for free and can’t run it. I don’t know why pretty much every other dev gets it right but UAD fails.don_sook wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 7:29 pm https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/ ... -FX-Bundle

There are so many other options out there, too like NI, Softube, Blue Cat (I just picked up Late Replies on sale and have Destructor 2 plus they have some great free bread-and-butter effects), etc.

There is nothing in there that hasn't been done already (sometimes better) 30x over. Most of all that you can get from free and I wonder, after mixing a song, if it makes a difference at all... But to each their own.
