MDrummer reacts to (some) PolyPressure events - bug or feature?

On my system Win10 22H2 with MDrummer 16.10 via Cubase 13.0.20, it seems that any MIDI polyphonic aftertouch message, sometimes also called note pressure causes an immediate choke effect on the Ride cymbal 1 and on Crash cymbal 2. This seems to happen independent of the kit being loaded (at least from the few kits I tested).

So I'm wondering - is that a feature (which I haven't been able to find in the documentation) or is it a little bug or stray code from a past or future design idea?

It took me a while to figure out what was going on because the sound of the immediate choking of the cymbal was difficult to tell apart from maybe a totally different sample being triggered. So I chased down that (wrong) path at first. :dog:

In my case, I was using an NI Maschine Mk3 controller's pads to play the various MDrummer instruments. That controller (and a few others) send not only Note (with velocity) messages when hitting a pad, but also MIDI polyphonic aftertouch messages, indicating the pressure put on the pad after hitting it.

So I'm wondering - is this repeatable on other systems or is there something very weird going on in my system?

If it's a bug, it's not critical, because it's relatively easy to overcome by filtering those messages on the way to MDrummer, or by configuring the MIDI controller not to send them at all.

If it's however a feature, it would be interesting to find out how that can (potentially) be configured for other pieces of the MDrummer kit (like other cymbal hits or special FX samples etc).

Hmmm, could you send us some small project with loaded MDrummer and some performance that would show that? I mean it kinda rings a bell, but dunno :D
