I like that they're simpler, but I have minimal interest in lofi... especially lofi synths. Though I'd suppose it might not be too difficult to turn off whatever effects are making it "lofi". I don't necessarily mind reducing or eliminating the highs or adding some vintage analog-style distortion, but I especially don't like the "lofi" processing in these presets.jbraner wrote: Tue Dec 19, 2023 9:40 am I like the new lofi leads presets. I've been using Current lately as an alternative to Serum for some basic FM sound design and for quickly generating ideas and mudpies ... I'm really digging it.
Great filters in this synth and if those aren't enough you have the morph EQ. Lots of options to add distortion and master clipping function is great. I'm finding the granular section to be really nice to add an additional layer or texture to a sound. The FX section is just fun and as alot to the creative process.
Current really brings a lot to the table in terms of being fast and fun to work with. Big thumbs up!

Well, hopefully they'll stick to the simpler type for "hi fi" leads and pads - ie stick to the main note, keep sequencing/arp easy to turn off (without having to hunt where it's coming from) - and not playing a whole composition by pressing one keyOu_Tis wrote: Tue Dec 19, 2023 4:05 pmI like that they're simpler, but I have minimal interest in lofi... especially lofi synths. User content is now embedded into DAW projects, which can be set in the global settings.
Added a scrollbar to the Stream view.
Filter outputs can now be selected as FM/AM sources.
Added in-app changelogs when an update is available.
The in-app updater now reveals the installer .exe on Windows.
Added a "View Logs" option to global settings.
Added a "Log Crash Reports" option to global settings.
Fixed possible hanging notes when toggling the Arp.
Dropping a sample on an inactive sampler now activates the module.
Expanded the clickable area of the modulation assignment dragger.
Various other improvements and minor fixes.

Downloading the update while current is open is possible but still not the installation. They have now added further steps to close your DAW automatically but this doesn´t work (Bitwig in my case). I have tried multiple times with no success.
If I close Bitwig manually, the current installation window also closes. So, neither the automatic shutdown of the DAW nor the manual shutdown works. They just can't get it right, you can only download and install the update from the website. Update and installation within current is still not possible.
I can update any other plugin I have while Bitwig is open.

I did this in Bitwig yesterday (Mac). It was confusing at first but I realized you have to follow the bouncing ball until Current pops up the OS's install window and then you can close the DAW before you click through the installer.enCiphered wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 3:17 pm Downloading the update while current is open is possible but still not the installation. The instructions need to be a little clearer, but it does work (on Mac at least). Bitwig's really good about installing plugins while the DAW is running, so you can probably get away with leaving it up, but not all DAWs are, thus the instruction to close.

Yes, thanks. I did follow every single step of the installation process, did exaclty what you wrote but nope. I haven´t test it on my Mac but in Windows it doesn´t work.billinder33 wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 3:43 pmI did this in Bitwig yesterday (Mac). Nice! I noticed it didn't crash today (I did update) but I was only loading presets for a few minutes.Fixed a crash that could occur when changing presets on Windows.
I'll report back if it gets bad again
Cool! This seems enabled by default - I didn't do anything and it's set.User content is now embedded into DAW projects, which can be set in the global settings.
I guess this is to make sure everything loads properly if you end your subscription?

Finding it a bit hard to remove clicking in the compressor. I had a patch with random panning and when jumping between extremes of left and right, was getting lots of irregular clicking. The usual candidates ie attack/release on the comp or the VCO envelope didn't seem to help. Nice compressor though, and the distortion effect module is just great as well.

I was expecting the new Noir cinematic pads presets to be more to my liking. Unfortunately many are too harsh in the high end, and many others just sound rhythmically off, though I'd suppose it might not be difficult to fix both these to my personal taste. There are two presets in this that I do like but would tweak (namely, Destination and Inside Catacombs) and a bunch I've labeled as "ok, could tweak" or "maybe tweak". Not great though.
"Matter Disruption" is tagged as a "Dark Pad" but the high end is excessively harsh, especially at the end.
A lot of them are also lacking in low end.
Maybe consider having some people like The Unfinished or Tom Wolfe or Empty Vessel etc. design presets for you?... The synth and FX seem promising, but I guess I may have to wait a lot longer for presets I really like.

A month later and still no news... Have you changed your software update policy? why hide something you sold to your old customers? Please, be clear...vanerio wrote: Thu Dec 07, 2023 6:51 amThe message is not yet reverted.Minimal Audio wrote: Wed Nov 22, 2023 12:59 amDon't fear... it's just a template that got modified in the kerfuffle. -- We're not planning any major version bumps on those products. -- I'll revert it on those pages.
Just because you are not planning to release a new version yet, does not mean that you will get new versions as announced in the past.
It would be nice to know where you stand as a customer...and this attitude doesn't help.

I think I prefer the basic FM between oscillators here a bit more than Phase Plant. PP gets very noisy and if you modulate increases in FM, there seems to be an odd sort of non linear boost at some points. Remapping can take care of this but its a bit annoying. Somehow Current is a bit cleaner even at extreme FM amounts.
I am finding the side chain or modulation depth routing hard to use. The inner circle is absolutely tiny and without being able to manually enter values, it's really hard to be precise. This synth cries out for a mod matrix.

For me Current is the surprise of the year. I love everything in it, the granular, the amazing sub osc, the premium fx and the stream. I did not even mention the strum in the chords section and the input send modes. I have it for over a month now and usually it pick serum to start something with but not anymore now I have current.
What I am a curious about is why Rift is not in the RTO plan?

I think they need to work on the authorizing side for the plugins still not available...
