You everyone know how much i love Melda, awesome plugins, awesome copy protection, solid, low on cpu....

BUT :D

When it comes about ready to use creative effects, it's just a "meh", i'd love to see a plugin like the one just released by Arturia, from Melda

https://www.arturia.com/products/softwa ... t/overview

I downloaded and it's even better than they show in their page. It's very good sounding and comes with ready to use presets.

Any chance to have something like this to manipulate sounds?

Post

Active presets in MXXX are pretty much an endless sound manglers. Funny you post this, after literally just checking the Arturia freebie out I was thinking how MXXX spoiled everything for me, I just need nothing anymore.
Win11, 16 Gig RAM, Intel i7 Quad 3.9, Reaper 7.16, RME Hamerfall HDSP9652, Steinberg MR816x

MXXX is very good, but a different beast.

This plugin is made to shape sounds, and every presets come with this in mind. So when you have a sound that doesn't fully convince you, this is something to load and see if get better, i tried with MXXX in the past, and the experience it's very very far.

I made a video about this Arturia plugin
feel free to skip it to the preset walkthrough, to listen how a simple piano can change in lots of different (and good) way, this is something not possible right now with MXXX.

With some patches i'm sure you can achieve lots of very good stuff, but you need to create them, maybe even just a bunch of curated presets for MXXX will be enough.

Melda is an amazing company, but it's "scary" for lots of people, cause it's meant for professional who know stuff. And this is amazing, i don't really want them to change!!!

I'd just love if they could create few plugins, like this one or the FX from Output, that are user friendly and with presets ready to use even for a complete noob.

Post

Of course its possible with Mxxx for someone with a bit if technical and sound design knowledge.

What a strange statement to make

Post

Isn't this mostly just a chorus plus some filters? You can easily do most of this in MXXX except for the fancy GUI.

However, some things would require to process each chorused voice separately which can be tedious to setup and control. I think you'd have to setup a delay for each voice and modulate it.

Adding a Chorus mode to the crossover module could be fun and allow to easily create similar effects. Or maybe give the unison module the option to output each voice separately.

Though personally, I'm really curious about the MixingRevolution and want to see that before anything else. That should be plenty creative and innovative, I hope.

I appreciate meldas approach of control and power first, focusing on making open ended effects with tons of control. If you want simple and low user effort effects there are tons out there. I don't want to stop melda being melda.

I think the original post inadvertently ended up in the wrong forum.

No one wants Melda to be different, just to create a product with a a different purpose in mind.

Certain comments makes me smile, cause if it was for that attitude, they would just offer the first plugin they released and nothing more.

It's like, "hey they make compressors, if you need an eq or a limiter go somewhere else"

Can you see how foolish is that?

A company if want to live and be healthy needs to be actractive to the market, so your attitude guys it's even something that may damage them.

They got aquired from IL, and till now fortunatly we didn't saw anything bad from it, but what if they will be sold to another equity that will force them to iLok, bad subscriptions or whatever else?

I appreciate Melda, like you do for what they are, i'm all in for Melda being Melda. Asking for a different product, or just for a set of dedicated presets into MXXX is very different to ask to Melda to become a different company, no one asked that.

And i'd be more than happy to have a set of 100-200 MXXX patches ready to use that mimic something like the Arturia plugin, the point is, if no one will make them, it's something that it's missing from the Melda ecosystem.

I spend time to create stuff with Melda plugins that are useful to my productions, but i do that outside my projects. When i work with music i needs to already have the tools, i don't wanna waste the time to create something technical in the creative process, cause this kills the vibe.

That's why certain plugins/presets or call them whatever you like, are very welcome.

I still don't understand why you expect, in the market with dozens of companies doing exactly what you desire, i.e. make OneKnobOnly plugins that do a particular thing easy, that one of at best handful of companies doing open-ended sound design tools aimed at tinkerers to start doing exactly the thing it deliberately doesn't do?

Besides the Arturia plugin is freeware. Why should anyone make another one?

Post

For different reasons tbh.

First of all, every plugin is different even when they try to copy paste each other, and this bring more diversity, and it's always a plus.

Then as i already wrote, i want to see Melda as company to be stable and healthy, and these days with lots of home-producers, that kind of plugins are more appealing to a larger user base, and so can also be a way for Melda to be known from people who never heard about them, or if they did, a way to give them a go instead to be just scared about Melda.

Last but certainly not least, that's something that it's really important to me. I believe in user friendly DRM like SN or Key files without internet needed, and this is not what Arturia or companies that makes such kind of plugins offer.

United Plugins belongs to Melda and dods what you want.

Post

United Plugins offer lots of cool stuff and comes with the same good Melda philosophy, so i'm all in for a plugin like that from UP!

"ready to use creative effects"... that statement right there is the problem.
I'd say around 99% of all VST developers are striving to make simple plugins that require limited user input.
And here you are, digging out that 1% who are making tools for artists who had been crying out for this level of control, before Melda came along.

In fact, Vojtech did meet you guys half way, with the easy screen, but apparently that's not enough?
Sorry if I sound a bit rude in this post (not intentional), but we really don't want the one dev who actually understands what's missing in the market, to waste any more time with things like this.

Like everyone before me has said... almost every other dev out there, is already giving you what you want!

Oh... and as you stated, Melda Productions was bought by Image Line, so I'm not sure why you would worry about longevity.
If anything, you should be more concerned with IL forcing online activation onto Melda, as they are also planning on removing iLok from Falcon etc, according to a post on their forums (yes, they bought UVI too)

Post

I don't think easiest tools exclude more complexity. As already stated even some mxxx carefully crafted patch or better devices made by some professional sound designer may do the trick.

Playing with Arturia presets i felt almost any of them to be not just useful but inspiring too, while with Melda i find myself the needs to live almost always in the advanced mode, and almost never using presets.
Not a problem for me, but when it comes to creativity, time is a killer.

I think Melda tools are amazing and more capable than most you can find in the market, but having to build a Ferrari from scatch isn't better than a wolkswagen ready to be used, even if Ferrari is superior in every way.

I'm in love with them, they are almost perfect, i see no reason to not improve. And if something like that isn't part of Melda plans i'd be happy to see that kind of stuff on United Plugins

Edit: I feel the need to write thad some devices are amazing and i coudn't ask for more. And i feel how much love they put in their plugins along the ability to code them in a way the are very light. I appreciate them a lot, so dont get me bad on that. I also love the perfect authorization method that for me is crucial almost more than anything!
So thank you Melda for being like that
